Also สี่ in Isaan/Lao language is a slang word with vulgar meaning. There are popular songs สิกันบ่ and สิฮิน้องบ่.

Thank you so much for this great breakdown. I use this word a lot. And I'm glad that my use and understanding were right. One time someone told me that to say this word is not polite. But I guess it's only with people you don't know.

When you pronounce "สิ" it sounds high tone, but the short vowel on top of the high class consonant makes me expect to hear a low tone. Is the normal pronunciation of "สิ" high tone because it's more natural that way? I'm starting to notice a pattern in spoken versus written Thai words (like some teachers pronounce "หนึ่ง" with a mid tone if the word it follows is mid tone, even though it should be read in low tone). ครับผม is very formal and humble word used by male speakers and it can be translated as "Yes, sir" or "Right". ครับ is general polite final particle for male speakers while ครับผม is even much more polite than ครับ, it used for very polite speech in specific situation like when talking to the elderly or others in higher rank such as boss, monk, etc. ครับผม originates from old-fashioned term ขอรับกระผม, which literally means "please, accept me" and where กระผม is more polite form of personal pronoun ผม.
