I used this method with G25 pedals for a number of years and it worked well enough. The biggest annoyance is loading up the extra layers of software and making sure Windows authorizes and see's everything correctly, which ended up being the main reason I got a pair of modern, dedicated rudder pedals.. but this is a great demonstration for those that didn't know this was possible and definitely worth trying over the twist stick.

Exactly this :-) In addition, if you don't want to load external apps to bind the axis, you can uncheck "use separate gas and brake pedal" on Logitech software. This way, you can use the gas and brake pedals as rudder. Drawback is pedals don't have good physical separation, and feeling is not the same on both pedals, but it's possible.

Hey guess what?? MSFS 2020 now includes Rudder Axis LEFT and Rudder Axis RIGHT controls independently. This allows you to map left and right rudder axes to your sim wheel's clutch and accelerator WITHOUT vjoy!

Actually toe brakes are installed in the vast majority of planes. You find it in all of the current liners, business jets and fighters jets. It's used in some specific planes as the only way to steer the plane on ground, like on a the Hawk used by the RAF and particularly the Red Arrows. The big planes such as the liners use a dedicated wheels to steer the plane on the ground but it's only used for taxiing, you have one for each seat in the cockpit. Using toe brakes is really useful during crosswind landings because it allows you to stay aligned with the runway by using the rudder while take advantage of the differential braking in order to have a better control. The combination of both can really help in difficult landing conditions. Great vid as usual!

I didn't say that they are not in lots of planes ..... The point is they are not in all planes and indioendent toe brakes are mostly used for tight turns on a taxi way. Needless to say it's something the vast majority of people could live without and that could be bound to a button and not having them on the rudder pedals is not the end of the world / is over stated by many anal flight sim fans that don't fly in real life. I'm basing this of talking to a few real pilots and the reality that you are mostly in the air + you can bind / set up brake for taxi regardless. By all means to brakes are nice and why not have them but it's not end of world not having them. Some high end rudder pedals on market don't even have them.

@@GamerMuscleVideos Actually when I watched the video I was thinking about the brake handle used of the Brits WWII fighters and the old Russian fighter jets until the Su-27 and Mig-29 came out. It was placed at the back of the flight stick and the handling was pretty different. For instance, the L39 is real bitch to taxi in DCS. Having the toe brakes feels much more intuitive to me.

if you bought thrustmaster TPR pedals they work as brake and throttle straight out of the box, no vjoy needed and they are the best for a hotas setup.

Fanatec needs a quick release add on that is a flight yoke. Basically where it allows you to pull the yoke back and use the standard left right ffb for flight controls.

Brilliant video James, works perfect on my HE pro pedals, anyone having issues with this install of vjoy and UJR is to unplug all USB devises, install both programs, leave vjoy alone as instructed by this nice instructor then just go through the steps outlined in the vid. Works like a charm. Plus the pedals are exactly in the right position on my P1 rig, feels so much more natural and immersive. Thank you Mr Muscle.

This is the exact setup I'll be going with for FS2020 and Star Wars Squadrons. Another game I was able to use them in was Overload. Made by the original Descent devs and in VR. I used the pedals for vertical strafe in that one (same as I do in Star Citizen and Elite).

The twist stick function on my T16000m is gone, known problem for years and Thrustmaster never fixed it. Didn't know I can use my Logitech pedals for the rudder and the actual brake pedal. Not only this solves my problem, it makes my experience a bit more immersive. I mean I would do that even if the twist stick was still working. Cheers GM!

My over 10 years old logitech G25 pedals are still working well enough to use them for rudder. They can be spaced further apart, bolted into the board, cheap comport to USB adapter to connect to PC and I've disconnected the brake pedal as well. I like the minimalistic clean look. Any spiking I have is resolved with deadzones and lower sensitivity.

I got it to install but it was janky. Run as Administrator and then when progress bar completes a second window pops up. Close that from task manager. It might prompt you to reboot your computer.

Im buying the Logitech G X52 Pro, not too expensive imo. It also has rudder movement in the stick itself, like a twisting motion. Which saves the need for pedals at all. You can also buy the non pros which saves you like 20 or 30 pounds depending on currency and shit. Only aesthetic differences as far as i know.

To add. The biggest reason that I like this video is that with my Thrustmaster T-LCM (USB connected where axxis can be changed) take all the room in my rig and no room for adding rudder pedals. Also I have the Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus Addition and the rudder control is not that great and can be locked to use rudder/racing pedals.

I tried this about a year ago, attempting to use this with DCS. Then as now, the vJoy software will not install. THe install dialog box just sets there. The install bar is green, but there is no install happening. The only way to close the installation dialog is to run WIndows Task Master.

toe brakes are super important on commander series of planes as they actually do the nose wheel steering which is what it is but nice for sake of practice for landings

JFYI: You can't start or land a Messerschmitt BF 109 in DCS without individual usable left and right breaks. It is built that you only can and MUST steer that plane beneath 100 km/h with your left and right break, because it WILL run and SPIN off the runway thanks to the torque of the engine and no steering wheel connected to your rudder. So there are planes where working individual breaks are vital, at least if you want and need to start and land them.

Great video thanks. However, I'm completely stuck at the vJoy step in the process. I have attached to my system 4 Controllers listed in joy.cpl. I have my TS-Racer Wheel, TS Pedals, DSD Button Box and Microsoft Precision Pro Joystick. It doesn't appear that vJoy sees any of these. Shouldn't I see 4 IDs listed in vJoy when I use the Configure vJoy app? When I go into UJR and press my pedals as you demonstrate I don't see anything. Am I completely missing something? I'm completely stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

That actually works better than I’d expected. I’m too poor for a proper flight sim setup, especially because it’s only an occasional hobby for me, but I’ve got my dad or my brothers Logitech steering wheel and pedals and looked this up to see if it was even feasible. Not ideal but looks better than a controller? Have to think about what to use for pitch though. Was thinking either gear stick? Controller joystick? (Sitting on the desk to the side)? Or the up/down buttons? Once again I know it’s far from ideal but for a casual flight sim noob like me, the only other option is a regular old controller

You use toe brakes once upon takeoff and you're starting the climb to stop the tires spinning. Just bought PC, Honeycomb, and can't find the Logitech pedals anywhere. Already spent enough or I'd go for something more expensive. This will work great for the budget using my G920. Wonder if you could use the shifter as well. Thinking shifter between 3rd and 4th for gear up. Or maybe with neutral used, 3 position flaps

Okay, PROBLEM SOLVER FOR THOSE WITH ISSUES USING AJR go to the link he gave, read thru for a link to the UCR page on github. DON'T USE UCR. In big blue letters it will direct you to the C# version that is compatible and still being maintained. If you can use UJR or UCR that's fine, but if not try the above.

I have a thrustmaster tx with t3pa pedals and everything worked with vjoy and ujr and flight sim recognised it as a vjoy device but than when I want to map the rudder axis it says 'You are trying to assign an action to a device that is not selected.' So when downloading Vjoy and Ujr. I would open Ujr and it will tell me the version of vjoy is old and to download the updated version of it, and after uninstalling the old one and installing the updated one again, it says the same thing. how do I get around this?

wow weird timing was literally just testing out my new yoke on dcs world before fs2020 comes out, and was having trouble using my pedals for the rudder, currently using combined keys for the brake and throttle and clutch for the brakes but would be nicer to use clutch and throttle for rudder instead aha

You can do it in DCS easily with the game's axis bindings and curves. It's a bit confusing at first but it definitely works.
