I thought it would be useful to show a little of how I do things. As you know what you see in the videos isn't always what happens during filming.

Thank you for your comment. To succeed on KZbin, I have to stand out from everyone else. Although my videos take ages to produce, I do try to create a good visual experience.

Enjoyed this Alice, great tips and advice! Much needed for me heh as we're looking into doing more vlogging in public at some point - but really interesting video and appreciate your advise!

Thank you. Yes vlogging would change your channel, but with a script that allows for narration and vlogged elements would enhance production values.

Interesting video- and some good tips! I always find the intermediate places are the hardest to vlog and film and photograph in ! Very quiet places, when no one is around are straightforward, but as can be places where there are lots of tourists or visitors at an event - I was at the Bristol Harbour Festival on Sunday and did bits to camera with my camera on a tripod no problem at all. I have also had no issues vlogging in the centre of Bath during busy times. It is those places, like some villages, with just a few people around that get people noticing me, as there is then no one else doing the same thing. I have been stopped a few times in places like that - most memorably in the Cotswolds (Broadway) doing some night time photography for a Christmas Video a couple of years ago. A woman was convinced I was taking photos of her car and got very upset and vocal! I was actually trying to take long exposure shots of the Christmas window displays! She refused to believe me. You occasionally get the odd random person shout an obscenity from a passing car (hence why it is important to check footage after filming before moving on as you suggest) and you do have to still be on your guard in busy areas, but also quieter ones too, at times. Lots of food for thought there Alice. Take care and happy and safe filming. Paul.

I think that most people don't appreciate just how difficult it is to make a video. There is simply too much outside interference from unexpected sources. The finished videos come out OK, I suppose, but the filming is difficult and time consuming. I love talking to genuine people who are interested, but sometimes they just aren't. Guess it goes with the job!

@@AliceGoss I agree 100%! It can be challenging at times, but I still love it.

Hi Alice. Thanks for the advice, but I'm still too self-conscious to vlog in public.

@westcountrywanderings yeah I think I have the same issues at times! I've seen another content creater who basically walks around a City talking to the camera and doesn't give a hoot but I definitely don't have his confidence

Hi Alice. Agree with everything you say. Yes the noise can be annoying! Lots of cuts needed lol 😂 I recently went into a building to try and film it. Gave up in the end as too many people (kids included) in small place. Really annoys me when you get copyright on sounds in the background. You will notice also some of the claimants have nothing to do with the music companies involved! Wow you really did have a great day with the weather! Yes just do it agree 👍🏼 also the more you do it the easier it becomes!

I've had to give up on a few videos, due to crowds and screaming kids. Just impossible to work or try and work. Tour groups are the worst and do tourist locations no favours. People think that 'anyone can make a video and upload it' but they don't realise just how much work goes into making the video that they stopped watching after 30 seconds!

Oh yes Alice. Ive seen lots of people trying to make youtube videos thinking its easy and they make a real mess because as you say its not easy and take a lot of work filming and editing after! @AliceGoss nice upload as always have a great weekend!

Good usable advice Alice Just wondering how you managed to talk to the camera with it filming you then switch it around to a forward view while continuing the conversation was it edited
@AliceGoss
@AliceGoss 3 ай бұрын
Yes, edited. I recorded the conversation in two separate sections with the forward view to hide the cut. B-Roll has a lot of uses.
