@StepBySteph thank you so much for sharing!!!! when you retwist the new grow with gel, did your hair loc in with the faux locs? I only asked because I want my faux locs to look fresh again, but I don't want my new grow to turn into permanent dreads 😮 I have extra marley hair that I think could help as well... Please help... such way is the safest for my hair?

This is my fist time having goddess lots so this was very helpful. I am dreading the drying process but I am geeked to know I can get them wet and really wash my scalp. I thought I was gonna' have an issue and not enjoy this style for long. By the way; how long do you usually keep your goddess lots in? Thanks for the awesome tips.

You're so welcome Kay. I kept my faux locs in for about 6 weeks. After 6 weeks of any protective style, I start to experience too much matting with my real hair.

Thanks so much for the helpful tips! Do you have videos on the oil you used on the locs and the oil you used on your scalp? Also…VERY new to faux locs so maybe dumb question but why no conditioner after shampoo? Is the leave in really enough to penetrate the faux loc all the way to my real hair shaft or am I letting the oils do that for me? Just trying to absorb as much info as I can, I think I can make this style work for me and I’m tired of fighting my mixed hair, I’m 30 lol any tips greatly appreciated

I'm getting faux locs for the first time tomorrow. I'm mixed (black and white). I've never had extensions, braids, nothing. I just love the look. I love your tutorial. Any tips for me? I'm getting long locs. My hair is already passed my bra strap and naturally curly. I'm getting the locs longer than my natural hair. I have to buy 7 packs of Marley hair and 1 one pack of synthetic Xpression braiding hair. It'll cost me $300+cost of hair+my own products.

How do u keep the ends of the hair moist? My hair gets very dry...that's why I'm scared to get this style...bc I would be able to easily get to my ends.
@thestepbysteph
@thestepbysteph 7 жыл бұрын
Moisturizing like you see in the video. Because it's a protective style, you can't fully moisturize your hair the way you need to. Water is the base to moisturizing your hair so make sure you lightly mist your hair before adding moisture.
@TOOMUCHMICHAEL

I kept this style for 2 months. I could've kept it longer, but I had bad experience leaving in twists for too long many years ago. Also, it's based on your preference too.

Is this the same technique that you would use for synthetic dreadlocks? I thought you weren't supposed to add conditioners or heavy creams to avoid buildup.
@thestepbysteph
@thestepbysteph 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response. I thought I responded. Yes, it the same technique. I usually just try to focus moisturizing just where my hair is within the loc so it’s not dry. I’m usually wearing a protective style like this for 6-8 weeks. And I don’t want to go that long without moisturizing my hair.

I'm a bit confused. Are experiencing bumps and itching on your scalp?
@TaylorSnead
@TaylorSnead 7 жыл бұрын
StepbySteph yes like red bumps. The girl that did my hair said it's probably from them being tight but online it said it could be from not soaking the hair in apple cider mixture before putting it in my hair to remove the coating or from being tight too. (I have a sensitive scalp)
@TaylorSnead
@TaylorSnead 7 жыл бұрын
StepbySteph and they are sooooo itchy!!! I bought braid conditioner and it helps some with the itching but I think I'm gonna try your concoction to see if that'll get rid of them?? What do you think?
@thestepbysteph
@thestepbysteph 7 жыл бұрын
Oh no. Yes I've seen people this before. You could be having an allergic reaction to the hair and the best way to deal with it is to take it out. You could try ACV to see if it helps, but I recommend taking the hairstyle out to avoid irritating your scalp more than it is right now.
@TaylorSnead
@TaylorSnead 7 жыл бұрын
StepbySteph I mean I don't think so because I'm not allergic to anything, but ill try this out for a couple days and update you to see if it worked and if not then I'll take them out bc I spent a lot of money and time getting it done lol. Also, its my first time getting something like this done to my hair and my black girlfriends that get it done say they've gotten the itchy bumps too and it eventually goes away after treating it. I got this hairstyle done about a week ago and this just started happening like 2 days ago

I just got my hair done in faux loccs I’m planning on locking my real hair how often should I wash and twist?
@thestepbysteph
@thestepbysteph 5 жыл бұрын
If you are locking your real hair, you can't wash it too frequently at first. Your washing schedule can vary depending on your hair type and how quickly your hair locks. Don't re-twist your hair too often because you can thin out your locks. I don't

@thestepbysteph
@thestepbysteph 7 жыл бұрын
I get a lot of braids and twists so I've noticed that I get more build up when I leave my braids in longer. So I try to keep my style in no longer that 6 weeks. Also, I don't add too much product to my scalp either. If neither of these help, try using a clarifying shampoo.
