I have found two potential ways to watch your movie files WITHOUT re-encoding the file in BD3D2MK3D (01:36) after the movie is ripped with MakeMKV. This will greatly increase the speed for you to start watching your movies. This guide might work but sounds outdated and might have paid licensing involved, based on recent comments: www.tomchapin83.com/how-to-watch-3d-blu-ray-movies-on-the-htc-vive-or-oculus-rift-without-having-to-re-encode-the-movie/ This other paid software called Stereoscopic Player will let your play files ripped from Blu-Rays on-the-fly in many different 3D formats including side-by-side and over-under: www.3dtv.at/Downloads/Index_en.aspx

Shame, you cant do something similar natively on ps5.

Why do you need to use VLC ? Why not just open the file in Bigscreen then tell is it to switch to SBS ??

I said you can open the file in "whatever video player of your choice. I have VLC." You do you!

Thanks for posting video. I have few questions. Is the quality better than 3s for 3d movies? Is youtube vr available to watch in pc mode? I'm coming from a quest 3 is this a upgrade? I don't care about vr games so will just be using for movies and KZbin vr if available.

Glad to hear it! I'm no expert in Quest stuff but I'll try my best to answer: 3S has very slightly higher resolution than PSVR2 but doesn't have OLED displays, so I'd say it's a pretty close in quality. 3D VR KZbin videos are pretty much only playable on the dedicated YT Quest app as far as I know. Impossibly or very complicated to get them working on other headsets. Quest can be used standalone or connected to a PC with a cable or wirelessly, while PSVR2 needs the adapter and only works wired. If your primarily interested in PC, movies, and YT, I think 3S is the clear winner here if I'm honest.

@@kacboy Thanks for reply- I actually have the quest 2 but was trying to decide between 3s and psvr2. Sony was real stubborn not to add ability to play 3d. They could charge 20 bucks on their store and sure most would be ok with it.

How I can watch 3D video on youtube by PSVR2 ?
@kacboy26 күн бұрын
Sounds like you need to download them... there are many recent software options discussed here: www.reddit.com/r/virtualreality/comments/1dfpns4/downloading_3d_vr_videos_from_youtube_to_watch_on/

I think Batman is only on Quest. So go with that if that's what your interested in!

How does it look? Is there a way to change the amount of 3D depth?
@kacboyАй бұрын
I found the different theatre environments and the distance to the virtual screen can help with the depth perception and pop. Though, I don't think 3D movies have any way to actually change their depth because it's just two baked video streams for each eye.

Thanks. How is the experience of watching a full length movie though? Did you try it?
@kacboy2 ай бұрын
I have not, since I only have Top Gun (and Hobbit 1- I just remembered). Maybe if I get another 3D movie that I haven't seen I will give it a shot! I usually get nauseous if I'm in VR for longer than 30 minutes though.

@@kacboy interesting, thanks. Yeah I think I must have experienced a bit of that too playing a game for an hour
@gorkem1342 ай бұрын
can you do local 3d movie files instead of bluray disc?
@kacboy2 ай бұрын
Yes, you just need to get them to play in side-by-side or over-under format to work in Bigscreen VR. You can skip the MakeMKV section.

INSANITY! This is such a Sony move… Can’t believe you have to go through all this nonsense to play their own licensed 3D BluRays. This is a company that makes hardware for the sake of making hardware completely out of touch with the user and his experience. Hopefully Meta brings some competition in this space, because Sony is complacent if you let them.
