How to wear Samurai Armor Yoroi. Iron Mountain Samurai Armory Review!

Greetings modern warrior of the Iron Mountain Clan! Thank you for your kind review of our Kachi class reproduction samurai armor set. We would like to offer some answers to your review. We are a USA based company, working with artisan crafters from around the world, which most are currently based in China. As you mentioned, this yoroi is our more economical sets crafted from our novice crafters with more economical materials. Yet is it still very nicely crafted and a great value for the price. You mentioned the principles issues you had with the armor is with the kabuto and the movement. Our suggestion is when you wear your kabuto, slide your thumbs to the inside the kabuto where your temples will be. Here you will find the loops holding the rope, which ties under your chin. Pull these loops down and outside of your kabuto, or they will press into your temples causing the discomfort you mentioned. This should resolve this problem. Regarding the movement. You received a round padded belt called "yoroi obi" with your yoroi. This needs to tie around your waist before dressing in your Do (cuirass). The Do should rest upon the yoroi obi and then held in place by the sarashi belt (long cloth belt). Before tying firmly, make certain the watagami (shoulders straps) are at least 2cm above your shoulders (2cm space). This will remove the weight from your shoulders, placing all of the weight onto your hips. The extra space will give you more freedom to raise your arms above your shoulders. The Gashira class suit comes with more options for fitting, but you can modify your kachi suit yourself. So if the kote are still giving you some restriction, you can add cords to tie them to the watagami. You can also change the cords for elastic cords, which will give you much more comfort and flexibility. i have an iron mountain suit of armour,just a tip when you tie your kabuto under your chin it ties under the chin section of the mask against the outside of the mempo thereby helping to secure the mask to your face,you actually had it tied under the mask and throat guard instead this would make the mempo feel loose on your face.

Some people don’t get that the red straps on both the shoulder in the back are suppose to be tied on a loops in the center back. Don’t dangle them.

thanks i was thinking on getting the horns i mean just for deco but sometimes to wear it, hearing that the weights makes it hard to move is kinda turn off, is best just go for regular kabuto less flashy.

I think the horns would have been hollow or much lighter back in the day? Could be wrong but doesn't seem very practical if you cant really turn your head so could just be the way they designed this replica.

I have an iron mountain suit and also a seperate kabuto with water buffalo horns,to be honest I cannot really feel a difference in weight between my kabuto without horns and the one with them,they are both equally heavy!! this is armour afterall. The biggest issue for wearing a horned kabuto (the horns on mine are huge as I chose the biggest they had available) is being aware of your surroundings ,remember to duck going through doorways and be mindful of low ceilings with lampshades lol.

@@haakonplayer77 In theory you could remove them if you really wanted to but it would be tricky and it would expose the holes on the kabuto where the horns are attached. It would make more sense not to have horns fitted in the first place and have a kabuto without them, there's no point having horns to then want to remove them,just my opinion.

Too bad about the bolt in the head! I can imagine this being extremely uncomfortable. It looks very nice though, and I am sure it will make an exceptional display/demo piece! I have a set from IMA (okegawa do), but the kabuto has no horns. It feels like it floats on my head, its quite comfortable. Heavy, but still quite nice! The issue I had with my set was the kote seemed way too short. I was able to fix that issue by tying the kote directly to the do (where the sode attach to the do), I then sit into the armor. After that I had full range of motion and the kote never slipped down my arms. I agree, there is a little bit of restriction to movement, but it is very possible to move relatively free and quick in the armor. I have cut a number of times in armor, it doesn't effect the outcome much at all, even stacked/falling bottle cuts.
