Informative I always enjoy learning new techniques. Weathering is a skill where you can never have too many tools in the kit.

This is very true, there are so many techniques one can add to the tool box! cheers

Dang. I'm saving this for my "watch later," but I can tell from the thumbnail that I'm going to like it. Love the reddish-brown bow wave, primer-color replaced number boards, and blackened window gaskets. Little details add up! -Cam

Thanks cam! This isn’t that unit though, this is just a basic series on how to weather up a CN road unit, window gaskets, is part 1, part 2 will be panel liner, part 3 is airbrush, I can’t give away all my secrets!

Hey @CN Silver Creek. I really enjoyed your tutorial on how you weather a Scale Trains Tier 4. Those small things you did made a difference in the appearance. I was especially appreciative of how you used(& explained) the black panel liner. I'm just now experimenting with the panel liner & didn't know about the X-20 that goes along with it. Your approach was great & i plan to weather my own Scale Trains GEVO(CN).

That’s awesome!! I’m glad it helped!! 😁 And thank you for the kind words! Cheers, Wade

I like CN(also NS, BNSF, KCS & UP) and looking forward to Scale Trains Dash 9 release. I'd "color change" the red & fade down the black. I just wish that Scale Trains would do a high power EMD(SD70ACe).

Great technique. The window gasket and the front handrails always being crooked are the only two things that constantly bother me about Scaletrains locomotives. Otherwise they're amazing models. I've tried using a paint color similar to the interior control stand to paint the windowsill and used the black sharpie around the clear windows with good results. It makes the window look thinner to my eye. Either way, painting around the windows is a drastic improvement. I like popping out the side windows and hit them with a sharpie as well to darken them up. I look forward to the next tutorials.
