Thank you very much to this guy. I replaced the motor in our Maytag today. The new motor did not have any instructions. I looked online for the directions to that particular motor and they were different than this video. I had the same configuration wires as in this video (grey, two-joined yellow, red, two-joined Black, and a two-joined Blue and White). I'm so glad that he showed the piece of paper where all the wires go and which ones needed a new connectors. I did exactly what he said to do and "VOILA!", it all worked just fine. We are so happy now. We also replaced the Belt, blower wheel and a 4' gas line. This is like a brand new Dryer again. Thank you for saving us a much bigger inconvenience.

I have an old Maytag DE303 dryer this motor is going into. The existing wiring harness has a light blue wire and white wire that are separate (no gray wire aside from the door switch). I can't find anything about how I'm supposed to wire this setup. I put the new terminals on the red and yellow (single yellow) and connected everything. I don't want to put either the white or light blue wire on the thermal protector or terminal 1 until I know it's correct and won't fry anything. Any help or literature would be appreciated

It appears the blue wire should go on terminal 1 and the white wire is on the back 1/4" terminal.

@@appliancepartsprosI am having this same issue. No grey wire. I have the yellow, black, red and then a white and blue with separate plugs, if I plug in the white wire then little blue wire (not the jumper the new motor came with, this is two wires coming from the dryer that are connected together but then separate into two metal ports at the end) has no where to go.

Anyone have a copy of that instruction sheet to help determine your wiring type?

Awesome super helpful video. This one explains properly the wiring changes needed between the original motor and the new replacement motor. THANKS SO MUCH AppliancePartsPROS!!

He’s the only technician that I’ve heard say to put the flatside of the belt towards the drum .

He's right. Flat side against the drum.

What can cause an intermittent power failure code for maytag electric dryer. The power connection is good and tight and I replaced the thermistor ( little white heat variable resistor ) . So could a motor that's going bad cause an intermittent power failure? Do these have start or run capacitors? If so are they replaceable or do I have to replace the entire motor?

If the motor doesn't run, does it tell the ignitor not to ignite? Is there a sensor on this old machine?
@appliancepartspros3 ай бұрын
The motor doesn't control the ignitor. If your motor is not coming on then you will need to test for power at the motor. If there is power there and no power is coming in then you will need to replace the motor.

Thanks all. The new OEM motor came with the lugs and detailed instructions for the new wiring.

Wish this video was of the stacked unit but I'm sure it's pretty much the same just at eye level instead.

Those dang start switches on the motor can be very misleading
