How To: Whirlpool/KitchenAid/Maytag Undercounter Bracket WP8269145

New dishwasher was 'installed' under a warranty by a contractor. The installer never set to tabs properly. They were just in the slots, not locked down and the outer part of the tab was secured to the underside of the counter top. Time, vibration and opening and closing the dishwasher door caused the screws/brackets to work loose over an eight month period. I looked everything over and secured everything properly. Having never done this before, i think i did an okay job after seeing this video. I was actually expecting to find something like a 'blind clip' that would lock-in with a satisfying click when pulling the unit forward. I learned that these clips don't work like that. Thank you for this bit of validation. Much appreciated.

Bending those tabs up is basically what holds the dishwasher from popping out when the top rack comes out. Good video, just what I needed. My tabs were not bent up on either bracket on dishwasher that came with the house. Thank you! :)

This helped me install my bracket on a new dishwasher from Amana. The instruction guide was really ridiculous. Given the very strange way this is secured, by twisting white metal, it can't be redone or the metal tab snaps off. My bracket tab end was soon completely useless. I reversed the orientation of the bracket, so the tapered end inserted into the slot. Then using pliers I made it wrap around the dishwasher frame part. Now only the lone screw hole is available. In my case, I was able to put long screws in there at a shallow angle so it wouldn't pop through the counter top. Very poor design, but we can live with it. Just note whatever bending you do with this bracket it is a one way street. If you reverse the bend, snap it's gone.

I would check the installation guide. Most stone counters are laid over a plywood base that you can screw into. If you do not have that you may have to use the side mount kit.

it is never that easy to shimmy a dishwasher out of underneath a countertop. usually the power line is just long enough to reach where the circuit connects to the dishwasher. it is relatively an easy fix however
