Not all washers use these, I did not see them listed under the model number. If you are getting to much lint from the washer make sure you are not over loading the washer as this will cause the clothes to rub together a lot. Make sure you are using the right load size for what you are washing and do not overload. Also make sure the drain hoses are clear and there is nothing keeping the lint from being washed out.

If the old one is in good shape and you are not getting excess lint on the clothes you can probably leave it in there. If it is damaged and you need to replace it then you would take it out and replace it with the tub plugs. Whirlpool did away with the big filters years ago and went with the filter pug kit.

Hoping & Praying I will be able 2get an answer 4this question. The washer in this video as close as I can tell is IDENTICAL 2mine, EXACTLY how many filters are on this machine all together & do I need 2clean any hoses out OR try to clean them? I have a whirlpool top load, similiar to this video. Pooped off the top to clean the fabric softener out. But when i removed the agitator there are no filters or holes to house them. Should i be looking somewhere else, or do some machines have no lint filters.

Question about the filter plugs. When I removed the agitator there were no plugs just holes and when I removed the inner basket and turned it over there was this big plastic ring with teeth on the bottom of it. According the the Sears parts list it says that plastic shield is the lint filter is this true? It shows the 4 plugs you show on this video to use in it's place. Do I remove the plastic shield on the bottom of the inner basket first?

The tub of my machine is a dark blue with white speckles granite-type. The four plugs that you mentioned are in place on the UNDERSIDE of the tub, so I just cleaned them with a brush. However, there was NO DUST CAP. I probably needed dust cap, but I'll wait for your advice.

Thank you for this video! Got the bolt removed, but instead of being able to remove the agitator, it removed the top on part of the agitator that has what I can I only describe as a round plastic pinwheel type thing inside it. Agitator is still stuck tight. Still can’t find the filter. The lint issue gets worse with every wash.

+AppliancePartsPros when I remove bolt, the agitator still wont come up for anything. I have a Kenmore top loader. Theres a small hole in the agitator but there no screw or anything behind it. So there doesnt seem to be anyhting to loosen.

Hi, I have the Whirlpool Ultimate care 2, SN: LSQ7030MQ0. I have noticed lots of white dusty-looking marks left on closes and lots of lint as well after the cycle is done. I've completed the steps in this video just to find out that I don't have any dust cap OR filter plugs (though there are half-moon shaped holes in the bottom of the washer bin, where the filter plug seen in this video should be) in my machine. It seems hard to find out if my model is supposed to have those or not. Anyone can help/had the same issue ? Thanks a lot.

I'm in the exact same boat. Similar model Whirlpool LSQ9030PQ5. Lot's of darkish lint in my case. No plugs in the bottom of the tub underneath the agitator. So I'm assuming this style is the older kind with a large filter of some kind under the drain tub. My search continues....

​@@chriskelvin248 Hey, I ended up changing a few pieces inside the central column of the agitator. Helped for a little while. But I suspect the problem had multiple causes. Too complicated, couldn't reach the filter, couldn't find the pieces i needed... meh ! I tolerated it for a while, and changed for a newer model recently. Hope you get better results

My washing machine drain goes into wall pipe that takes gray water to sewer. The drain stops up from lint and backs up the water and starts leaking in wall. Water has to go somewhere. Is there a lint kit to go over the drain tube before going into wall? My plumber loves me for an hour or a $100 bill to unstop the drain!

I followed your instructions for my Whirlpool LXR9445JQ0, but there is ridged plastic lining the underside of the 4 filter holes (on the underside of the tub) that I cannot remove. Because of the ridged plastic, the new filters from the Washer Filter Plug Kit don't fully snap in or sit fully flush to the tub, but they're close. Will putting the new filters in anyway make things worse? Is adding the new filters unnecessary? The ridged plastic lining is clean and free of lint. If I am getting lint in my clothes after washing, where else should I look if the filters aren't the issue?

These are a for your model, but are not necessary for your machine to run. In order to be sure that the machine works correctly it is required for these to be on there.

Can someone help me? I have a Kenmore series 70 washing machine. I don't believe it has a filter. For the past year or so ( I only do about 2 loads per week, so it hasn't been a pressing issue ), the nylon I use to filter the drain water is filling up with TONS of gritty crap. Ordered the part, bought the extension. Got the agitator out and there were two holes not one at each corner so the parts I bought did not fit. Now to send them back and get a credit I pay shipping. Dirty means It leaves stains on the clothes, sometimes clothes doesn't small fresh after being washed( it can stink).I unscrewed the middle of the washing mashing as you showing in the video but only the top of it( I don't have a proper tool to unscrew it totally right now) and it is super dirty inside. Also, how to check hoses and pump? Do you have any videos about it?

We have the new Whirlpool WTW4910XQ1 and the dispenser does not look like this. It is completely stuck. Trying to pry it loose with a screwdriver doesn't seem to work either as the plastic just starts to buckle and tear. Did they change the dispenser setup on newer models?

They catch lint as the water circulates and then when the washer drains and spins the lint is cleaned off and goes down the drain.

I think I caused my own issues by not making sure the clothes were fully inserted into the tub. If the clothes are left above the water filler, the water splashed on the clothes and wets the lint in the lint ring and spills out of the machine. I had placed cardboard under the machine to see where it was leaking. After several test loads, there were not wet spots so I believe I caused my own issue. thank you so much for a reply and your outfit will be the only place I get my parts.

+Mary Bricker You can try some hot water to try and break up the old fabric softener and soap residue, also try a small screw driver and pliers to help get it out. Unfortunately things sometime do break when disassembling so if it gets damaged you may have to order a new one.

raja singh It could be that your style does not have one. Check and make sure the hoses and pump are clean and that it is draining properly. Make sure you use the correct water level for the amount of clothes, do not use too much water. Do not over fill the washer with clothes. Make sure you follow the use and care guidelines. +Mar P I do not know what you mean by dirty? If you mean too much lint then yes if the washer has them and they are bad/missing they would need to be replaced. Not all washers have this style of filter though. Check and make sure the hoses and pump are clean and that it is draining properly. Make sure you use the correct water level for the amount of clothes, do not use too much water. Do not over fill the washer with clothes. Make sure you follow the use and care guidelines. Why would too much water cause a lint problem? I would think not enough water (or overloading) would result in more lint.

Probably solved it by now but use Wd40 and let it sit for 30 minutes then use pliers to pull it up. That's how I got mine out. Hopefully this helps someone.

My washer (Kenmore 10029842991) has the plugs, but the ones already there look like they're UNDER the basket, and I can't see any way to remove them from above. Any advice? All of my clothes have been coming out covered in clumps of lint for months now, and it's ruining my work clothes.

Your washer has the old style filter, big round filter between the tubs. It is no longer made and is replaced by this filter kit. To get it out you would have to take the inner tub out.

Stars of Sirius I didn’t. We just cleaned up what we could and put it back together. Seems to have helped keeping lint off clothes, but it’s such an old machine we want to replace it soon anyway. If you find anything, let me know.

I looked and did not see a specific lint filter either. What I did see is that the lower agitator has some holes around is and the bottom of the agitator has an opening around the outer edge. Check it out, if there is some sort of lint filter built into the lower agitator and it is damaged or clogged up to where it cannot be cleaned or if is not filtering, the agitator would have to be replaced. In the video you can clearly see that the holes are different sizes - the plug kit contains the same sizes of plugs which do not fit the smaller holes. Waste of money.
