How to Wingfoil! The heel side tack! Get the tips and tricks you need to get around.

What is up every one! We are back with another video and another turn!
This time we will be looking at the heel side tack. I recommend trying this turn after you already have your jibes and your toe side tacks down! This is because it can be a little tricky to master but especially because it requires speed, commitment and a decent foil control! So the more you have been riding before you try it the better!

That’s a great explanation. I was trying these but too much upwind so was stalling out. Doing the tack from a reach makes more sense. ❤ thanks 🙏

Hi Kyriakos Not linked to this vid, I am searching tips or tutos to optimize paddling on a Wingfoil board and with a large wing on your feet. I am specially interested on the best way to install the wing with my legs and feet, and to guarantee a good catch when paddling front a strong wind, which can fly out the wing at any time. It could be also difficult with some side waves or turning winds. I am sure that there are plenty of useful tricks which may help beginners to move out or move back to beach before being fully skilled on the Wingfoil 🤗

Hi Nicolas, Sorry i completely missed this comment and you have probably already found out the best way for you to do this! For me because I paddle head into the waves and our water is choppy and sometimes wavy I simply place one foot under the leading edge and one over. Then my wing doesnt move, flip or get carried away by waves as I can easily control its position. On flatter waters you could flip the wing on its back and hook your feet into the leading edge (one each side of the strut) It really depends on your conditions but thats what works for me

Good video with some good tips. Please don't confuse riding toe side with switch stance. "Switch" is riding with your feet in opposite positions to your natural stance, i.e. a goofy footer riding regular foot. This has been true for surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding but then windsurfers screwed up the terminology.

I was about to make the same comment but, thanks, you saved me the trouble. 🙂 The offending phrase, "and we come out of the turn in a switch stance position" occurs at 1:50. Should be "and we come out of the turn riding toe side". The three pairs of opposites, ie: heel side & toe side, regular & goofy, and natural & switch, all apply to different aspects of the riding stance. You can tell if someone is riding heel side versus toe side and regular versus goofy just by looking. But you can't tell if they are riding natural versus switch. Fantastic tutorial by the way. Clear and concise. 👍
