Hi, just seen your vid and it sorted my hive out. I just had a new baxi and wireless stat fitted but my wife wanted the hive system. watched another guy on here who said to wire it the same as the old back plate like for like. Turns out it was the wrong way round, boiler was on stat and app both said off. Followed your instructions and boom! It works as it should. Absolutely spot on instructions. As someone who hasn't even attempted to wire a plug socket (due to being colour blind). I was very nervous about blowing something up but got it right first time with no problems. I don't think I would of managed it without this video lol.

Thanks for the video, I just wanted to point one thing which could be a potential banana skin. If you have an existing wireless control connected to the boiler e.g. a Salus wireless thermostat then you will need to disconnect this and loop the live and switched live wiring which goes into that existing controller. Often these are connected with a wiring loom onto the boiler PCB. I left the loom connected, stripped the ends of the live and switched live control cables and used a terminal block to connect them. Essentially you are replacing the loop which you remove from the terminal box on the boiler. If you don't do this, you will install the Hive and find that it cannot turn the boiler on, like I did!

Great vid. Most helpful I've come across!! Question though. I've changed from a standard plumb centre wireless thermostat to Hive, but I cant get the heating to come on, only the hot water works. I only have 4 wires in my wiring for the receiver. Neutral (black), live (brown), earth (yellow/green), and then one grey wire which I'm assuming is for the heating on. There's no black wire for the heating off. Any help??

My combi only has a spur running into it at present and nothing else, when I wire the programmer into the boiler (I have taken the front off and this look easy enough to do..... very clear instructions form yourself thank you!) Do I need to also run a cable from the spur into the programmer? or can this just be wired into the boiler circuit?

I’ve followed your wiring and the only way the hive system works is with the old wireless thermostat set to constant? I’ve seen another video with a 3 wire config , omitting the earth wire as it’s a double earth, but he adds a loop wire from live to common ? I’ve got an Alpha boiler it’s working doing what it should just annoying the other thermostat is still on show , can you help ?

This is very helpful I am trying to accomplish something similar. I would like to control the BAXI LUNA HT1850 with a relay module. but when I try connect the live that comes from the relay to the slot 3 and 4 it doesn't seem to work. is there anything else I should config before controlling the boiler? I really ned help, I manage to make it work connecting it in the floor temperature terminals but when I switch it off I get the Error 153 (if I remember correctly) Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the video Pete. I wired miy hive up exactly as shown but the hive receiver doesnt light up. All power is live as I tested it. Boiler clock switch to on. Boiler light on. Hot water fine. No Ch. Can't figure it out. Boiler is biasi m90d 24s if you have any tips please! 😳 😵

Great video. I have a wireless unit (Drayton) currently connect to a Worcester combi single channel boiler thus enable / disables boiler via temperature set via timer schedule on the boiler via isolation switch and thinking about replacing with hive. However took a look at the wiring of the existing unit and look almost the same except the black and grey wires are reversed wired ( grey in 1 and black in 3 ) as a posed to your video/ hive install manual will this be an issue if kept as is or does it need to be changed over? Also boiler has a timer schedule how will this work? Does it need to be removed, disabled or does the boiler need to remain on constantly thus managed by the hive unit?

Hey, I've just installed mine on a baxi duo. It had a mechanical timer fitted that I've disconnected and put in blocks. All wiring double checked and correct but I've no heating just hot water. Nigel Bennett I don’t know what you have mate... Some other stats have the same backplate and the same/similar wiring. Without seeing it I wouldn’t like to say - but I have seen it before where you can just unhook the old receiver and stick the hive straight on... hope that helps

Andy Morley hi - yes it matters about terminal numbers... it’s just a switch though so orientation doesnt usually matter. *assumuing combi set-up... conventional system would be different.

Hi mate, awesome video. I was wondering if I have it right. I have the 5 boiler terminals as you do, my manual is quite clear which live neutral and earth is, but the other two are called bk1 and bk2, on the diagram they appear to go to an old fashioned thermostat and it seems that one of the terminals shows an arrow pointing towards the thermostat with 230v and the other shows an arrow pointing back to the thermostat with no voltage. Am I right in thinking it doesn't matter which of the black and grey wires I connect to these two since it is AC or should I connect a specific wire of the two to a specific terminal? If so, which wire would the 230v one go to our if 1 and 3 on the hive? Cheers.

1 is your permanent live & 3 is your return live. Use whatever colour you want.

Can you answer a question please?? I have just got hive and will attempt to install tomorrow. I have a mechanical thermostat that is obviously linked to my current digital timer. I am obviously taking the digital timer away and putting the hive receiver in its place, but do I need to actually do anything with the mechanical thermostat? I don’t mind it staying there if I don’t need to touch it?? Thanks

Without seeing it it’s hard to say. But I’d be exposing mechanical stat and seeing if I can match wiring - discard that and then hope the old timer is same setup as hive. If in doubt - get someone out.

Hi. Thanks for the great video. Quick question about the connections in the receiver. You used 1 and 3 for the switching circuit. Combi is different to heat only… Combi is 1 and 3… Heat only (tank system) is different

Surely you have a thermostat in the pack? If you’re wiring up the receiver then you just pair the receiver to the thermostat and you’re away... or did i mis-understand?

Just successfully installed my hive thermostat on my logic combi c30 The only thing that wasn't clear to me was, does the black and white wire have to go a certain way when joining on the open therm terminal in the boiler. Hi we are due to fit a single channel hive to a Potterton Assure combi boiler and just checking the wires from 1&3 go to on the terminal block in the boiler, so in the video, it looks like terminal 1(Common) goes to the first terminal and terminal 3(Heating on) goes to the second terminal or does the second terminal (boiler )which shows power coming out go to number 1 and the first terminal (Boiler ) go to number 3? I believe that the terminal block on the Potterton is the same as the Baxi in the video, hope this makes sense, thanks in advance.

I'm swapping from a Salus receiver. I have the L and N connected but the other 2 wires are also Brown and Blue. They are in ports marked NO (Brown wire) and COM (Blue wire). Any way to tell before dismantling the boiler?
