How To: Wood Stove Blower Replacement (fireplace insert)

In this video we replace the blower in our wood stove fireplace insert due to the noise it was making. Also turns out it was working hard to turn the impeller and now blows heat so much better. I just love heating with hardwood firewood cord wood!

We just started heating with wood about 4 years ago and each year we try to make at least one improvement on our overall system. From logs, to cutting, splitting, storing, drying, and burning. Little by little we get better. We heat only with wood. We have a propane heating system that is very rarely turned one. I love wood heat. Thanks for checking out my fellow Buckin Army Soldier! Might be better to vacuum off the dust, then blow it off outdoors. For longer life from you new blower, oil the sleeve bearings before each season with 4-5 drops onto the felt of the bearing slots.

There is nothing to that. It's not attached. Just slides away from the front.

Oddly, I performed that exact task just last week. Mine are Dayton brand from WW Graingers and iirc, they are rated at 210 cfm. Probably very close to the same as mine.

Mine has gotten very loud lately...so this was helpful How is one sure a new motor will be quieter ?

+Tommy Haynes What I would do is take the motor out and blow it out with compressed air. Try to get it as clean as possible. Then turn it on, and if it is still noisy I would replace it. A new motor should not be loud. Thanks for watching and am happy to answer any questions you you might have. It's held up great for me so far

I just replaced the one in my Vermont Castings Montpelier. Got in Amazon where it says fireplace must be pulled out toreplace the blower. Don't believe it. I did it with the stove in place without too much trouble.

Our stove had a blower that just sat in front of it. You just pick it up. No tools needed.

Hi I just found your site and it's helpful. I just lost the blower on my Pacific Energy wood insert :-(. The stove was in the house when I bought it and I don't see a model identified. i'm wondering what to do next?

If you still have the blower remove it from the stove and look it over for any tags or markings. It may have some part numbers on it. If it does, google those numbers and see what comes up.
