Personally I think this is overly complicated. Just use short division. Here you are solving a simple algebraic equation (to find x) to create an equivalent fraction , simplifying and then coverting to a decimal using an understanding of place value. That's four different Maths skills! There is also an assumption you know 5 goes into 100 a whole number of times. Converting 2/7 to a decimal is more difficult with a denominator of 100 because 7 does not go into 100 a whole number of times. Short division is far simpler and works every time.

i can't cope with the letters being the right way round and you being behind them my brain is trying to turn them round or read them from right to left....so - i don't think this glass wall idea is helpful.
