Writing optimized product descriptions is important for 2 key reasons:
1) To provide customers with information about your products.
2) To boost SEO.

Follow these steps whenever you're writing product descriptions for your ecommerce business, whether this is for Amazon, Shopify product descriptions or even your Etsy store.
1) Understanding Your Target Audience
Creating a “buyer persona”, to tailor your product descriptions to, can help. You can then make your product descriptions more personal and relatable.
2) Find Your Tone Of Voice
The aim is to communicate in your product descriptions in a manner that your customers would expect and it's a key element to writing good product descriptions. Many factors determine your tone of voice. You can convey it through the type of words that you use, the pronouns you choose and your sentence structure.
3) FAB - Features, Advantages and Benefits
Include details in your product or service description and talk about the features, advantages and benefits, or FAB for short. The Features are the factual elements of the product or service. The Advantages include what the product does as a result of these features. The Benefits are the results of that advantage.
4) Use Bullet Points
Bullets can make product descriptions easy to scan, allowing customers to find the information they want quicker. Many customers, for instance, will use bullets to compare products when deciding which to buy. This is particularly true on Amazon.
5) It’s All About The Detail
Detail matters too when writing good product descriptions. But what kind of detail?
- Shipping Information
- Size Charts
- Guarantees & Care Plans
Be sure to mention any additional guarantees or services that you offer alongside a product or service.
6) Include Your USP
A USP is your unique selling point. You need to think about the key things that make your product different to your competitors and include these in the description.
7) Power & Sensory Words
Power and sensory words create an immediate emotional response in customers. When consumers read them within product descriptions, they automatically imagine how your product might make their lives better. And that can be all the incentive they need to convert.
