I appreciate you laying out a character crafting guide that isn't just a character sheet. I also very much agree that a lot of character development should be saved for while you're writing the story; I'm glad you brought attention to this because I think a lot of people miss that character creation isn't a list but a journey.

This is so far exactly how I do the prep work! First, the premises, "What If", conflict. Then, the "sketches" of the major characters--physical description, personality traits, and the premises for their respective arcs, their "purpose". So far I'm doing it right, I guess. Thanks for the boost of confidence on that end!
