I haven't covered a western animated series since my Arcane video, so it's been a little while! I'd love to cover She-ra, Amphibia, Spider-verse, Infinity Train etc. So any likes or comments does give me a better indication of knowing if people actually want that type of content!

Would love to see you cover western animation as well with all the shows you've listed. If you do a video on She-Ra, I'd want to see your take on Voltron. You summarize the behind-the-scenes issues so well that I think it'd put a spotlight on the relationship in executives making narrative decisions in response to their audiences. Of course, it'd be a delight if you also covered Over the Garden Wall and/or Bee & Puppycat (I prefer the original, but the remake isn't too bad).

I just got back from a local convention, the sheer amount of cosplay and fan art still being produced for Gravity Falls 7 years after its conclusion is genuinely amazing. I think the testament to any piece of media's lasting legacy is both the people who make it and those who still talk about it

Animation is the perfect story telling medium. If you are talking about Disney's fairy tales or Bakshi's gritty "realism", animation can basically cover all the bases.

I've just realised how glad I am that I watched it while it was airing. I so vividly remember waking up to a new episode every Wednesday (I'm russian) in my teenage bedroom. Our whole (russian speaking) community was so involved that people were subtitling (and promptly dubbing) episodes just as they were airing despite the timezone difference so everyone could participate in the mystery solving and theorising. It was truly a great adventure!

I'm so glad you addressed that most episodes are wrapped around an episodic fun instead of calling it this massive lore drama. That's what makes GF amazing to me (y'know, apart from everything else). It managed to balance all the beats perfectly

i always appreciated dipper and mabel's relationship as a twin, because more often than not in media, sibling relationships are portrayed with a TON of fighting, which has never been the case with my brother and i. if anybody asked me, i'd say he's my best friend. long story short, my brother's contact name in my phone is still "dipper" to this day.

I watched Gravity Falls as it aired and it was such a great community to be a part of as it was happening. I remember being heavily on Tumblr and the app formally known as Twitter, and it was always fun watching and interacting with everyone who was watching the show and trying to figure out the mystery. I just rewatched the show with my fiancé (who had never seen it) and it was a blast to witness him learning everything anew.

It ended when I was 10 and so I wasn’t allowed to look at online forums yet as it was airing (prob for the best lol). But in school I would make so many theories with my friends, constantly make references, etc: Me and my friends are still close and this show will always have a special place in my heart for solidifying our friendship.

I vaguely remember watching gravity falls as it was airing with my brother on cable. I barely remember it though, because whatever my brother watched, I watched, so it would be S1 of GF then onto S2 of TMNT then some transformers thrown in.. The sheer spontaneity of cable is something I miss from childhood. I do binge watch sometimes, but if I could go back to the days of anticipation for new episodes of series i love, i'd stay forever.

I'm not sure why I never watched Gravity Falls when it came out, it must have just been in my few year downtime between watching every episode of Phineas and Ferb and getting into Anime in college. But my partner absolutely loves it. We also watch Over the Garden Wall every single Halloween, so that would be my personal recommendation for another western animation video like this! But obv make whatever you're interested in! Great video as always even for someone with limited knowledge on the series.

to elaborate a bit more on the episodic/filler episode portion, i just wanted to say that i think gravity falls stands out in this area specifically because these 'filler' episodes are actually very in depth and stand to develop the characters, rather than serve as simple, well, fillers. character growth and even the furthering of plot lines are present in these 'fillers' and by the end of it, what you have is not filler, but instead something much more valuable. it differs from something like phineas and ferb (which i love) in that, phineas and ferb characters are static. the episodes are formulaic, (very well executed), and the story beats are largely the same, except for the occasional special episodes. phineas and ferb characters are practically the same from episode 11, to episode 86, to episode 100. gravity falls, on the other hand, while concise, manages to incrementally seep in ounces of character development into what would normally be throwaway episodes and it makes all the difference.

I always loved how collaborative the animation industry is. I remember the day when i learned that an owl house animator worked on the trailer for hades alongside a Chinese animator. Later that day i learned That Chinese animator later directed the heavenly delusion op with animation by hakyu go, the best mob ep director, legendary op director shongo Yamashita and for some web animator kay yu most well known as currently as a hololive fan-game creator. With James Baxter working on gravity falls and lord/miller working on Mitchells the chain of collaboration never ends.🎉

Gravity Falls was truly something special. The opening for the series grabbed me from the go remembering my sister and our cousins piling onto a golf cart on the farm ( no brakes and no floor you know how it is - Not S&P Approved Activities ). I watched this series while airing, ran a relatively active fan-theory blog, the works. Some parts have admittedly not aged as well, and Alex has said as much on certain episodes, but it has that special nostalgic air of a summer away from home where you won't experience something like it again but cherish it in that inner child of yourself. It was made during a critical era of animation where the game began to shift and animation was being pulled out of the late 00's time where it didn't have the same respect and appreciation among industry and American society at large. It was something special, like an old photograph in a well-loved shoebox.

Always loved your videos to bits. It gives this sense of nostalgia, warmth, and somewhat gentle feeling. and yes, GRAVITY FALLS!! I remember being so addicted to it back then I would watch and wait for the new episodes to pop up when I was in middle school. All the mysteries on it, the adventures, the slight goofiness of the show~ reading up theories and people making videos about those said theories was just fascinating to me~ I just loved it ♥ when I first found out that they were ending the show I was a bit sad, but the last episodes were bangers after bangers, they were revealing all of the secrets and foreshadowing was DEAR GOODNESS GRACIOUS IT SO GOOD!! and the ending felt satisfactory to me. When the series ended and heard about mysteries being scattered all around to find the statue of BIll, I was like HOLY THE ABSOLUTE DEDICATION! I bet the fans enjoyed deciphering everything to find it. it's such a nice touch to everything regarding the series. . . . . . When the twins were going on the bus to go back home since summer ended and said they can always come back next summer made it feel reassuring in a way. It's not like they're not coming back to the shack ever again, they can always visit next summer, although we will not see it of course. They're fictional but I did get attached to them a lil bit back then XDD hahaha it was good all fun.

this was both insightful & educational watch. it's also nice to see more childhood classics like this being covered in KZbin. GF was one of my favorite tv shows growing up from a time before having access to digital or internet based media (2005-14) the show's ominous opening theme which now reminds me alot like tubular bells by Mike Oldfield might have shaped my musical taste too apart from my childhood exposure of watching horror/slasher films. could be the reason why I also sometimes like listening to music with a gloomy or sinister tone. also I never really considered or thought about the pines sibling dynamic but i can definitely see why it's memorable & stood out among other cartoons at that time. Being the only one gender of the family, i have always had ambivalent attachments to my 2 other siblings bc most of them were girls who had very limited "feminine" oriented interests or activities but i guess i wouldn't be who i am without them too.

I feel like the themes it has and the message it shares is similar to other stuff you've covered like skip and loafer (the relationships/bonds) and witch hat atelier (fantasy while still being grounded to reality)!!
