Just wanted to share one story with you. I am Polish myself. once I was travelling in the train from Krakow to Wroclaw. The train was full of Ukrainian refugees since it was from the station at the border. I met in the train one lady with a child around 12 years old and a guinea pig. I asked them if they know where they are going. They didn't. It was their first time outside Ukraine, they didn't have anyone in Poland. They kept asking me what they should do. if they should go further to the West. I couldn't answer them. I just gave them my phone number in case they needed help. They called me after two days and told me they don't know what to do. I immediately called my family. My family welcomed them with open hands, they live with us for a year now, they are celebrating with us, they became part of our family. Just a random meeting in the train but it was destiny. BTW that kid is calling me sister now :D

I've always liked Poland and used to work with a couple of Poles - awesome people, but still I didn't expect such overwhelming support and humanity when the invasion started. I remember watching a video by a Polish blogger in the first weeks of the invasion, sharing her feelings, crying and having _survivor's guilt_ because of what was happening to _us_ , as if it was her own personal tragedy. Back then, when so many people in Western Europe were still insisting that we were all being "too emotional" , "overreacting" and called on just "waiting a little until it's over", Poles were the only ones who understood the scale of the horror we had to go through, and the importance of resistance. Luckily, I didn't have to leave Ukraine, but I'm still incredibly grateful to all Poles for saving the lives of my people. We'll never forget that unprecedented, unconditional support. ❤❤❤

Ukrainians have slaughtered thousands of their polish neighbours in cruel sadistic way with axes forks and other crime tools. No one was saved women, nor children or elderly people. Now they even have tleritorial demands from Poland and still worship criminalist Bandera who ordered this crime.Milion of them fled to Poland after russian special operation .In a short period I counted several murders, rapes of polish women, and a lot of thefts. They scrounge at every super market.Open your eyes and cure your ignorance.

@@MrGreg771 I have perfect idea what was that genocide, my own grandparents have suffered it in the very middle of it. Yes, there is a conflict in Bandera perception. But holy shit, now they are being murdered, raped and robbed by russians in unjustiified war. It's the worst time to make a problem out of it and drama right now. Now it's time for support and return to the problem after Ukraine wins.

I think Poland and Poles did amazingly well - the proof is that there's really not much to report of any issues other than psychological trauma that Ukrainians are dealing with. It might sound weird, but this shows how smoothly the help was provided, and how dignity of people in need of that help was preserved.

@@nilslarson7532 not all. Out of the 4-5 million that entered Poland around 1.5 million are now permanently here (well at least for the foreseeable future). The problem is that even if we were the richest country in the world its not physically possible to build homes / create workplaces / social services for additional 4-5 million people (Poland has 38 million citizens) in such a short amount of time. Poland is simply to small to handle that amount of people especially in such a small time window hence why the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, appealed to the EU and UN for support to provide accommodation to at least some of those Ukrainians. Hell, probably even the US with all the money they got and how big their country is would have insane trouble to provide housing and social services for additional 4-5 million people overnight.

If you ever visit Kraków again you may wanna avoid admitting that you are from UK xD you guys are not the most welcomed tourists there since it used to be (and might still be) a go to place for British bachelor parties and these were sometimes a bit too wild. Also vast majority of Ukrainians you have seen were most probably migrants and not refugees. Even before the war we already had millions of Ukrainians living and working in Poland. Actually Poland is a big reason why Ukrainian nation decided to rise up in 2014. They were coming to Poland, living here, working, earning good money and thinking "what the hell? you guys were at our level back when USSR fell and now I need to leave my country to work here cause it's so much better... Ukraine can be the same". We were their window on the West showing them that following Poland's steps brings peace and prosperity while being dominated by Russia brings nothing but hopelessness.

Polish nation has a lot of historical traumas to heal, a lot of issues to fix, there's lots of self-loathing, many people will tend to speak ill of other Poles, the country, the system. So now nothing has made me ever more proud of myself and the entire nation than the immediate and massive scale selfless help that we offered to Ukrainians, starting from the individual level up to the governmental level, I think for many Poles this was self healing in a way, and proof that we can really rock as a nation and show others how its done. I'm pretty much against the current government, but I'm so glad for their relentless attatidute in all this towards Russia and the systemic help for Ukrainians.

The crucial fact in this whole story is that in 1943 Polish people experienced a genocide which is now a taboo topic because the perpetrators were the Ukrainian Insurgent Army soldiers with the help of the local Ukrainian community. It happened in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia and the Ukrainians were then led by Stepan Bandera. 120.000 Polish people, mostly women and children, were murdered in the most drastic ways you can ever imagine. Now, knowing that fact, look how the Polish nation helps Ukrainian people despite the majority of them still glorify the leaders of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (Bandera). But Polish people don't care, they still help. Just imagine if Germans were still gloryfying Hitler, would Jews help them in need?

Honestly, that was the first time my country really made me proud. We Poles can't agree on one thing, but when we got the news, private, random people were offering whatever they could. I think the most heartwarming pictures were of carsits and strollers left by Polish parents, at the train stations at the border. All of the Ukrainian people I've met (mostly as a Polish language teacher) were incredibly hardworking and selfless. A girl from the west left her job and husband and came to volunteer as a translator, a teenage boy worked his way into a good highschool while his mother was helping to get people through the country and the border. Women who came to our village started to look for jobs the moment they arrived and now work soo hard. They all want to go back, when it's safe and I think all Poles really admire that, especially looking at our history.

Well, ask Ukrainians what they think about banderites who murdered polish people with unimaginable cruelty. And why don’t you ask them if they would do the same what polish people has done to them, in case of war in Poland

@@blaskitrzask well, you all may see now, this is exactly what I was talking about. A lot of these people will never regret for what they ancestors done. And president zelenski seems to be soooo appreciated for what polish people done to Ukrainian refugees , but he’ll never condemn what happened in Wolyn. And that keeps me alert, and keeps me carful from trusting them.

Why are the children singing CHERVONA KALYNA in Poland? It's like the Germans singing Nazi songs in Israel. The Volyn Massacre is ever so conveniently forgotten.

it's one thing to consciously immigrate, and another to be forced to let go by war. No wonder so many people are stuck in the middle because they have left their family and home. on the other hand, people who want to stay in Poland integrate very well. Of course there are problems but somehow similar to the ones we do ourselves :) let it end and ukraine win!

I am 20yo Polish. I used to live in Cracow now I live in Katowice. I live in a block with 30 Ukrainians. It quite annoyning that they can t speak a single word in Polish after a year (most of them) and there are plenty of them but we live quite well. I hope they will do great but they need to mix with Polish people more if they want to live here for a loneger period of time

idk why but our people think they know polish even if they didn't learn any word, just say it to them or deport. Unfortunately we couldn't separate normal people from fools on the borders then in February 2022

Due to the war initiated by the Kremlin, disguised as a special military operation, numerous Ukrainian citizens were forced to flee their homes and safeguard the lives of themselves and their loved ones. Various European nations have shown their readiness to receive refugees and their families, providing a safe haven for those in need. Consequently, Ukrainian citizens have relocated to foreign countries to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their children and elderly relatives.
