@@jenn_x. Absolutely agree. She's the type of person that thinks they are a good owner purely based on the fact that she's had many dogs in her life and that somehow makes her believe that she's entitled to own dogs. Unfortunately she's not the only one that thinks like this. I've seen many people who have absolutely no business owning any animals and we're horrible with their dogs but they always walk around with the "I've had dogs all my life. I know what I'm doing" attitude. And there's literally no reasoning with people like that. I just wish that we took the buying and selling of pets, and any animals, more seriously. I also wish that we changed society's super lax attitude towards owning animals. We should be way more thorough in making sure that the needs of the animal are met and that they can be properly cared for. We should also do background checks on people buying animals and they should have at least a basic knowledge of the animal they are wanting to get, as well as making sure that their lifestyle is compatible with that specific breed or species. Because up until now, we have set the br incredibly low. Any person can go by an animal from a pet store, breeder, or private party, with virtually zero oversight. They need no prior experience, knowledge or training and most people base their decision to get an animal based solely on superficial things such as they think it's cute, it's popular or trendy, or it looks tough, or they met another of the same breed and really liked it and wanted one for themselves, even though animals have their own personalities and temperaments. And unfortunately because so many people base their decision to take on the responsibility of owning an animal on these ridiculous superficial aspects instead of the important things that actually matter, they quickly realize that they got in over their heads and that's how we end up with so many abandoned animals and over full shelters. Sorry for the rant... I could literally go on for days on how much this topic gets me going and I'm super passionate about it because I love animals and they deserve so much better than how we treat them.

@sashabenoit151810 ай бұрын
@@michelehemlokhexwhite4310 Yes! It drives me absolutely crazy too! The logic some people have is just absurd. Just because you grew up with pets that your parents or relatives had, or your best friend had dogs growing up and you got along with them, doesn't automatically make you suitable to be an owner. But yet, so many think that way. And not only that but they fail to even consider if those people were actually good owners themselves and the fact that they were their main example growing up of what a dog owner should do, that would inevitably instill the bad habits of those people onto them and how they are as an owner. People tend to forget that being an owner is a big responsibility and not everyone is cut out to handle it, whether it be mentally, physically, or financially. This is why I'm so passionate and vocal about this because I'm sick of how society treats the ownership of animals and the severe lack of knowledge of how to properly care for different animals and their individual needs and temperaments. We have to change our attitudes about how we go about this because unfortunately, it's the animals who end up suffering from our ignorance and irresponsible practices. We're finally starting to take animal abuse and neglect more seriously, making it a capital offense but now we need to take who we give these animals to more seriously, so we can hopefully prevent, or at least lessen the amount of abuse and neglect by getting to the root of the problem before it gets to that point.

Shouldn't he be reimbursed for both cows? They're considered property, and her dogs destroyed them. Why do you need notice before you can be held responsible?

The Judge gave him less for what the cow was worth. That's not for her to decided when he have a bill of sale for her other 3. Not giving anything for the calf I understand because it seemed like he didn't bring any pictures. But just $2k for that one was a bit unfair in my opinion.

Why do people insist on getting working dogs and not work them. Border Collies are like any other herding dogs, they have an abundance of energy which needs to released and very high intelligence, if they aren't trained properly and worked they will use that energy to escape. What will she do when one of her dogs chasers after a coyote and runs into a hungry bear with cubs? I have known a few people who have owned kelpies and blue heelers because they want an Australian dog and then had nothing but problems, always escaping, snappy and aggressive.

Un-trained, or ill trained herding and guardian dogs can and will harass livestock. Plaintiff had every right to dispose of the dogs

Probably, but in rural areas, if it's a farmer and he's not hurting anyone, they usually turn a blind eye.

The lady literally said her dogs have been chasing his cows for years. It had to have been an issue before the first cow died. He should have got the money for both cows.

Where I live felony convictions are a different dynamic when you are a farmer or involved with agriculture or livestock. I'm not 100 but I think they're allowed to have a shotgun for only those purposes. On a somewhat related note she only brought up the felony conviction as a smear campaign. Not only was it a felony conviction It's considered a violent crime. If she truly felt a certain kind of way about that she would have already let somebody know in the department of corrections not a TV judge. No offense judge lol

The defendant shouldn't have any type of animals!! She should have paid for both cows especially after he presented the picture showing she was still not containing them.
