As a serving officer in the fleet, I have never heard a disparaging or negative word about ADM Franchetti and I am waaay down on the totem pole. Everyone seems to have faith in her. I hope she is able to navigate the DC world and make the Navy the best it can be. I am aware that she was not Lloyd Austins first pick for CNO but I still think Pagano as INDOPACOM and Franchetti as CNO is the right combination for the future.

The acid test of command is performance in battle. Personally, I pray that this country will always have naval commanders the likes of Nimitz, Spruance, Marc Mitscher, "Pug" Ainsworth, "Jocko" Clark, et al. Franchetti ? We just don't know. . . .

LOVE LOVE LOVE this story! I have 2 daughters serving in the Navy. One has been in for 8 yrs and the recently graduated high school, left behind academic scholarships for college and enlisted. Definitely wasn't my choice for either of them but my oldest daughter taught me a lot and is a fabulous role model for her little sister. Both of them are at important turning points in their Naval Careers so this story couldn't have come at a more opportune time. The Navy really needs to learn many lessons about retention policies. They give it lip service right now but it is not put into practice. They still have "their's another one to fill your boots" mentality and it's about numbers and paperwork.
@Saicharan-hk9id4 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you are proud. I am an army guy here. What are their roles ?
@jenniferelkins81074 жыл бұрын
@@Saicharan-hk9id My oldest daughter is in logistics, she served 6 yrs in Japan. She was attached to a Squadron so about half of that was spent on a Carrier. She planned to go college when she reenlisted for four more yrs and was stationed in CA, BUT the POLICY changed and BUDGETED was slashed for enlisted personnel. The maximum the Navy will now pay for, AFTER SHE SIGNED FOR 4 MORE YRS, is a SEMESTER per yr. So at this point, as in the next month or two, she has to decide if she's going to reenlist again and get her new orders in. Additionally, they are paying HUGE sign on bonuses for new recruits or to recent veterans to entice them back because fleet numbers are so low, reenlistment bonuses are minuscule in comparison. Making those who have served feeling even more undervalued than they did unfortunately. The Navy further demonstrates LOYALTY is a one way street by this action. My youngest went to Corpsmen Training after accelerated boot camp, she didn't complete the training was recently given her new rate options. They are horrible! When she enlisted she qualified for just about everything, seriously, her scores were just short of nuclear rates. She had nearly full ride to college, this is A RECRUIT THEY REALLY WANTED and she was considering career. Now they don't want to take the time to match her up with the appropriate for her and most importantly for the NAVY! (btw don't know why my font is red and can't change it lol)

During my last sub duty I was given the position of career counselor and set about to encourage my fellow sailors whose time came to decide to go on to civilian life or continue a career in the Navy. The best advice I ever got was to counsel the sailors at home with their wives present. We had a phenomenal retention rate for the time I served in that honorable position and would hope counselors would take the same advice that made us successful. My heartfelt congratulations, Navy mom, that you have daughters serving in our US Navy. You must be as proud as I am and hopeful that regardless of their tenure that they learn about their service, their jobs, and themselves as fine young Americans.

Becoming the "FIRST AND ONLY FEMALE FLEET COMMANDER" doesn't really make much of an impact considering today's modern western "progressive" context, that views things like a meritocracy, sexist and dated. For those not paying attention, that means we are willingly skipping more qualified candidates in order to fill a female quota.
