Talking to a friend the first time about struggling in a relationship and she said that during engaged encounter when the priest was asked if wanting to have sex with your fiance was a bad thing he said, "If you don't want to rip the clothes off your fiance right now then you probably shouldnt be here." and it has always stuck with me, just that they are natural desires to have.

I couldn't agree more! My husband and I waited till our wedding night, we were both 27 and virgins. Our wedding night was so beautiful, being able to enjoy the amazing gift God has given in giving us intimacy. Communication is so essential. Boundaries and continually talking about those boundaries as our dating relationship moved to engagement were so key to keeping our relationship pure. We were long distance so it felt even harder cause we didn't get to see each other often. Now 4 months into marriage, there is so much peace knowing that we waited and being able to share those memories with only my husband is amazing.

I got married last month, and I have to say the time when we were dating/engaged and waiting already feels like nothing! It sometimes felt so, so difficult at the time, but I barely remember those feelings now that we're married. It's so worth the wait and has borne so much fruit for us already. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you so much for talking about this! I am getting married next year and my fiance and I are saving sex for marriage and honestly the hardest part is when people tell me we should have sex before marriage and or love together to "make sure". It's very much assumed these days that any couple not having sex has an unhealthy relationship

It’s great to hear both your perspectives on waiting. Most people who share about their experience in waiting have a tendency to boast about it, it is essential to include that as Christians it was only by the grace of Jesus Christ that we are able to wait. Otherwise it is impossible especially when two people are in such a close proximity. Be blessed ☺️

Hey emily! Could you make a video addressing Catholic young womens’ feelings of inferiority with men? I’ve talked with a lot of Catholic women at many college campuses, and there’s a lot of brokenness that we experience. A lot of us feel like Catholic men might understand how to treat women like a gentleman should, but don’t quite understand how to treat them as their equals too. Not sure if this is getting across right, but in sports, group activities…etc, many women feel like they’re not listened to or included by the men and it’s a deep place of hurt that’s becoming a trend. The guys are very respectful and want to treat women with respect, but it feels like there’s a disconnect between being chivalrous and respecting a woman as their equal- Aka acknowledging that a woman might know more or be better/as good as a guy in various areas (especially some that aren’t as well received like sports). I hope this came across right and that there’s a way you could help shed light into this. I’ve been searching for a while for Catholic females who have shared their experiences, places of hurt, healing… or any commentary whatsoever on this and nothing’s coming up! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

There are a lot of cute guys where I just moved and work, it's been difficult to keep my mind on purpose. These guys are fun and flirty and normal lol and they're not bad guys, but I don't think they're Christian. I believe it's no coincidence that I keep seeing this type of content recently to help me stay strong in the Lord and to keep my eyes on Him and believe that which I long for really does exist. It's been my (unfortunate) experience that men who are active in their faith as young adults are a little more than a little weird and out of touch with reality, and it's rare to find someone who is a healthy and balanced person, who enjoys their life and who loves to serve the Lord. I'm struggling to find someone who I'm attracted to, who is smart and capable, who has a pure heart, and who fears God. Thank you for your honesty and for your example! You guys are in the world but not of it and you're similar to who I'd like to be/find - Helps me to hold on and have faith for what I pray for! Blessings 🥰

"men who are active in their faith as young adults are a little more than a little weird and out of touch with reality," "it's rare to find someone who is a healthy and balanced person, who enjoys their life and who loves to serve the Lord." hi Emily, I know this isn’t something you and Daniel personally experienced but I hope you see this comment and can share some wisdom or encouragement. My boyfriend and I are waiting til marriage. I made this decision when i was young, probably whenever I learned what sex is haha so I am a virgin however my boyfriend started his journey with his faith only a few years ago and has a very different past than mine and he struggled with lust for a huge chunk of his life. I never hold that against him because he is born again and a new person, so much so that he truly leads our relationship to purity and closer to God. But still I find myself feeling very anxious about when we do get married and have sex because it will be something new to me but for him it’s something he’s already done and I worry that he won’t feel the same way I feel about it. Like getting to experience this thing God created for just us two, it is sacred and wonderful but I don’t know if he will feel the wholeness of it and if it would be a different feeling for him in marriage than it was for him before. I’m not sure if I made sense haha its just hard for me because I can’t imagine what that’s like for him and I also feel insecure at times because he could have expectations for sex that I won’t meet right at the beginning of our marriage because he already had sex before and I didn’t

interesting thought on which I would love to hear your opinion: you talk about how waiting to have sex helped you build a stronger foundation for your relationship, which makes sense, but it seems that to achieve that, it is more relevant, how much time you spend dating before having sex rather than just waiting until marriage. Like, if you get married after 3 months of dating, even if you saved sex for marriage it remains doubtful whethet you achieved the same 'relationship skills' (for lack of a better word) you described.

I'm glad you shared your story and I am happy you both have peace in having the same values, but I can honestly say that I think saving sex for marriage is a very difficult thing to do and should not always be strived for. I will say that media and entertainment make it seem that sex has no consequences and holds the same weight as kissing, which is obviously untrue. However, I just can't imagine waiting until late 20s or even 30s to be married without ever having sex, without ever watching pornography, without ever masturbating, ever doing anything remotely sexual with a partner, etc. The drive for sex is just too strong to withhold for that long. Obviously self control is important, but in my opinion, waiting until marriage for 1 person in late adulthood is just too much of a burden to bear. It was still nice hearing your viewpoint!

I know a couple who did the same. Their sex life after marriage didn't work. The frustration made them eventually get a divorce after some years. If only they had allowed themselves to check their compatibility, before getting married! _It isn't always a fairytale_ Perhaps you and your family and your church feel proud of your virginity while coming to the altar... but then it will be you alone, or you and your spouse--not your family, not your church--going to bed every evening feeling lonely, unsatisfied, and stuck in a frustrating life for the rest of your life. Is it worth risking your future happiness and your marriage to pursue this idea of "purity"?
@aliciadiazdelrio24063 жыл бұрын
I think what is wrong though, even though you say sex is good and so on, there is still the assumption that people that do not wait base their relationship arround sex or avoid communicating or solving problems by having sex. That is not true either! There are plenty of people who have beautiful and healthy relationships that do not wait until marriage. I mean its great that it helped you in that way and for you it has a deeper religious meaning but in this videos there is always the comparison of how your relationship is if you wait vs kf you dont. I find a bit reducting and biased...
