BIG thank you for not skipping over the intimacy and sexual frustration part. That’s needed to be talked about so much! Pregnancy and all that it entails is no joke and marriages are affected by it in many ways especially intimacy! I’m currently 13 weeks pregnant and that’s something that my husband and I have had to navigate and continue to navigate bc throughout my first trimester, sex is the last thing on my mind or what I want to do. So thank you again for bringing this up Daniel! The vulnerability in you both is so appreciative and admirable. God is using your not so great moments in marriage to build up others. More content like this please!! 🤍

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Yes, it will be something you will have to navigate throughout prenancy, and then postpartum, and when it is done with open communication and great love it helps a lot! Thanks for your comment!

I'm newly married and have felt like marriage has helped me become the best version of myself, not that I find my identity in my husband, cause I dont but I have a goal and purpose each day and that is to support my Husband and help him to be the best version of himself. Everyday is a new oppurtunity to serve him and each day he serves me with his hard work and support.

We desperately need more of these kinds of videos. I'm not married yet but it's important to hear the issue of sexual frustration talked about so we can have the right expectations. Too many couples hide the sexual frustration issue and are either too vague or they sugar coat it, which means they didn't really give us an honest testimony of what to expect in marriage. For a guy, he has to feel valued by his wife, regular sex, and good meals. I think these should be discussed more openly and regularly.

I kept getting comments like that and people told me to think about it as many times as I needed… We prayed about it, understood this was what God wanted for both of us, and got married. More than 2 years later, couldn’t be happier :) it’s not easy, but I agree with Emily: it’s not as hard as people had me thinking. God being in the center certainly makes it easier. When things get hard, I pray it over with God… and things have always gotten straightened out! It’s certainly a journey!!

My boyfriend is definetly the logical part in our relationship and it drives me crazy when he asks for the details of what made me feel that way. I think I might have to remember him that I just need him to listen sometimes. It's so refreshing to see couples approach challenges and use them in a positive way☺️

Hi Emily! I hope this comes out well. I’ve been following since I first saw your video addressing how the church addressed purity after abuse/assault. I was sexually assaulted at church. Mentally and spiritually struggled a ton for years. But now that I’ve found someone who accepts me still, I’m enjoying the fact that I know he isn’t stuck in a marriage, that daily he is choosing me even though it’s easier to leave. Especially in church it’s easier to find someone better. You spoke of marriage knowing they will always be there. But I hesitate with it because I like knowing that he wants me and chooses me every day and I don’t know if that will go away when we get married.

Hi Pauline, your comment struck a chord in my heart, about the nature of marriage in a faith context. This passage of scripture came to my mind that demonstrates God's perspective on marriage. In Mark 10, when Jesus is questioned about divorce, he says "...a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” May God bless the relationship that you decide to enter into long-term, and may you both have the courage and faith to trust in God and each other enough that being separated won't attract either of you in the slightest. Best wishes to you, Pauline xx Edit: fixed a typo

Woah. Thank you for this video, I really needed it. My boyfriend and I are very close to engagement currently (I know he's ordered the ring), but I've been keeping to myself some things and feel he's been holding back too for the sake of us not having conflict. This video honestly has given me the courage to ask him to have a heart to heart about some things (I'm not fearing a break up, we just need to figure out some stuff). Furthermore, I think I know how I want to word some things and how to go about some of it. God bless you two!

Thank you for such a relatable and honest video. This was very encouraging to see from a couple married longer than me and my husband. The pandemic hit during our first year of marriage. Going into marriage you understand that you will face challenges, but we never anticipated having to face a worldwide pandemic in the first year and all that comes with that. Our “honeymoon” phase was hit suddenly with harsh reality and uncertainty. Now we’ve been married 2 years and the pandemic is still prevalent. It has forced us to come together in marriage faster in some ways that usually may take years for some couples. Spending so much time together, at home, alone, only seeing few people, and having practically no social life. Not only were we learning how to be married, but we were learning how to survive and think faster. Suddenly everything was different from sex, living together, communication, keeping our faith intact, to life and death situations. We even purchased a house in the midst of it all and we both lost family to death. It’s made us stronger and closer, but also forced us to grow faster as a couple. Sometimes 2 years feels so much longer than it really has been because of how much we’ve already been through. We also practice NFP and I would love to hear your thoughts about it. May Jehovah continue to bless your marriage ❤️

Loved this video. It is so good to hear all of this!! Going off of validating feelings and just listening to the girl how they feel right now and the guy not being the logical person in the moment is so true. Read For Men Only and there is a chapter that talks about that. It is written my a women named Shanti. I forget her last name. The book dives into the mind of a women so men can understand the better. Her and her husband also wrote For Women Only that explains a mans mind to women. Good books to read. She also suggests men reading For Men Only first and women reading For Women Only first so we are more in tune with ourselves first so we can explain how we feel in a situation, writing down notes and then giving it to our significant other or spouse so they can read it, understand your mind better and see your notes. Worth a read. Such good books!!!

Hmmmm that got me into thinking that perhaps hard is easy when both couples are aiming to do well and that hard becomes harder when good choices aren't made despite the difficulty. Speaking of myself, I made my relationship harder than it should have been by making not so good choices. I'm not saying that it's impossible for me to rethink my situation and choose good for myself and my partner, but that now its even a struggle to do good because I've dabbled in the wrong for so long.

I really enjoyed listening to your honest discussion of your marriage. On top of the foundation of your shared faith and values, it's clear you've learned so much in six years--good for you both!! Impressive that you were able to catch the slide into complacency/habit/routine/roommates during the pandemic and work together to right the ship. The whole question of whether or not marriage is h-a-r-d is interesting. I think at the core there should be a feeling of serenity and peace. But that doesn't mean there won't be challenges and hard things to deal with along the way.
