In this universe Captain Carter is the first Avenger, Maria Rambeau is Captain Marvel, and maybe the Inhumans didn’t suck. [clip, horrible clip from Inhumans]
I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Universe 838, in fact I think we’re about to see Universe 838 declare war on the MCU AKA Universe 616. [clip, “I don’t wanna fight you Flash” but with 616 and 838 on their heads]
But before we get into that, let's take a moment to examine all we know about universe 838-because you know what they say: “know your enemy.”
The 838 seems almost utopic. As advanced as the MCU’s technology is, the 838 seems to be even more so. [clip, Marty Mcfly reacting to the future.]
For example, the memory projectors on the street allow you to step into a circle and have a memory literally projected holographically in front of you. A technology very similar to Tony Stark’s B.A.R.F. [clip]
And real quick while we’re on that topic, Qunten Beck developed a lot of the technology for B.A.R.F. [clip, him being mad Tony named it B.A.R.F.]
Quentin Beck was the first character we heard refer to the MCU as universe 616. [clip]
It’s later revealed he was lying about being from another universe. So how he and the 838 Christine Palmer both came to call the MCU “616” is something I’d be curious to know the answer to.
Anyway, back to the 838. There’s almost something eerie about the perfection of this universe. I feel like their earth is very well protected from outside threats. Perhaps they’ve reached a point where they don’t have daily catastrophes like in the MCU. [clips, kaiju size egyptian gods fighting in Moonknight, Wanda’s hex, Doc Ock on the bridge, Endgame portal battle, one eyed octopus battle, etc.]
Catastrophe’s in the 838 are likely few and far between, but at what cost? Could earth 838 be ran by some type of underground secret organization pulling the strings and bending society to their will [eyeball in pyramid image begins to fade in over Ryan]
Doug: Oh because the Illuminati

But seriously, the 838 Illuminati may control more than we think. As utopic and well run as the 838 may be, there’s something scary about a bunch of unelected superheroes calling the shots. I mean that’s the entire premise of Captain America: Civil War.
What happens when the group of heroes running the show gets too cocky?
Doug: They let their guard down and get killed by a dream walking witch?
Ryan: Exactly.
In the comics the Illuminati was founded by Tony Stark. The group typically consists of Tony, Doctor Strange, Reed Richards, Professor X, Blackagar Boltagon AKA Black Bolt, T’Challa, and Namor the Submariner.
While Tony Stark isn’t present in this film, his Ultron bots are. Assuming that in this universe Reed Richards or Hank Pym didn’t create Ultron. I think it’s also worth mentioning that there is a 7th seat that is empty in the Illuminati’s layer. So perhaps that’s Tony’s seat. [clip, Civil War scene where Tony tells Peter to “move the leg” so he can sit.]
I think we can infer a lot about universe 838 from its unique Illuminati lineup. Each member seems to represent either a team or area of expertise. Reed Richards of the Fantastic 4 and quote “the smartest man alive.” Black Bolt of the Inhumans. Professor Xavier represents mutantkind. Captain Carter is likely the leader of the 838 Avengers. Captain Marvel is the quote “defender of the cosmos.” And following the death of the 838 Doctor Strange, Baron Carl Mordo is Sorcerer Supreme. [clip, Rick CARL!]
With members of this Illuminati representing some heavy hitting and very prominent teams in the Marvel universe-their deaths will not be taken lightly.
Let’s start with Professor X. The X-Men are going to be royally pissed that the Professor was killed.

No. I also think that Sinister Strange (aka 838 Supreme Strange) may also still have a role to play. Please hear me out: There was some interesting dialogue between 616 Strange and Sinister Strange and I think it relates back to the 838 Supreme Strange. Sinister Strange said he was looking for answers in the Multiverse in order to save his world until he LOST.. (I think he lost "control" - hence, "things got out of hand". I think Sinister Strange's home is the one that the 838 destroyed, and that the 3rd eye is allowing 838 Supreme Strange to place a piece of himself into Sinister Strange (as a preservation method) to piggyback through Universes. Sinister Strange was aware of the cost of using the Darkhold, yet he had no black markings on his fingers. They point this out by framing his hand on the stair railing. It's the first shot we get of him. 838 placed a piece of himself in Sinister Strange so he would survive (he knew the Illuminati would not be cool), then our 616 Strange came and then the 3rd eye transfered to him. So our 616 Strange has a piece of 838 Strange in him. Therefore that eye is bad news.

In the 838 Universe, Thanos was defeated on Titan itself. Which means that Thanos never destroyed the Infinity Stones. Which means that the Time Stone still exists and the Sorcerer Supreme might have it, i.e. Mordo. Mordo can use the Time Stone to bring the Illuminati back to life again, like how Thanos resurrected Vision in Infinity War before taking the Mind Stone on his head. Thoughts?

I think it would make sense that Tony Stark is alive but never became Ironman? They showed us in What If how Tony would develop if he hadn't been captured by the Ten Rings. If he's alive in 838, he's probably not a superhero, and the Illuminati could have just appropriated his tech.

That's exactly why they were going to kill Strange, because all Stranges are capable of the same destruction. So it's not far off to think they would do the same to Wanda. The only thing I see though is that while the Illuminati might make harsh judgement calls, other may not. But hey, if Captain Carter is willing... that's bad news because if she's supposed to be anything like Steve, then the moral compass of 838 is screwed.

I just had a thought: rather than be based on the Skrull centric Secret Invasion, wouldn’t it be possible that variants from 838 and elsewhere are infiltrating the MCU 616? Also, wasn’t a main plot point of incursions is that as the universes are destroyed, the void they create draws in their adjacent universes, accelerating further incursions as they rush in to fill the vacuum and thus collide?

Me too, but as 838 Rachel said, since they are from different Universes, they may have different magnetic signatures that are volatile to other Universes, along with potential diseases. There are only two ways to stop an incursion when one is created by a character like say Loki stepping off their original timeline. And that's to have the two timelines fight it out, or the tva can step in and prune the nexus event with a time charge, but it will still technically destroy the pruned timeline.

Earth 616 vs Earth 838 MCUs version of “secret wars”, since they don’t really go by the comics this war will be insane none the less…So many characters Feige and Marvel can use and create with this storyline. Christine lightly hinted at 616 and 838 merging when he said to Strange "What an incursion it would have been." Hinting both that she herself wished it could happen safely but knows it would be an absolute mess, AND winking at the audience that this is EXACTLY what's going to happen...and that it will be messy. It will also be an excellent way to "bring back" characters who have "died" in the MCU, like Tony Stark and Natasha Romanov. We've already seen Loki brought back through the multiverse after all.

Okay I was cooking up my own theory, and then you said that mutants can enter the MCU via the universes merging. That is delightfully tempting, as we could have 838 be so much more like comics 616 so as it is almost completely up to date. Not only could the X-Men already be in the Krakoa era, but we could explore the history of 838 and have access to all the characters and stories Disney wasn't allowed to use and integrate them into the MCU like the Ultimate Universe (and a lot of others) moved into the main stories, and all of a sudden we can tap into the meatier crossovers that just couldn't happen before. That's just the start, throw the entirety of the multiverse in there, and the sky's the limit. We could get a Vietnam Era Punisher. Cap and Logan in WW II. 80's Dazzler and Lila Cheney. I love this plan, thanks for the help. Disney please steal this idea.

I would think since they killed off 838 Xavier and it likely implies Ian McKellan Magneto, that they'd be unlikely to bring them in. If they pull mutants from elsewhere in the multiverse, I think they'd either aim for the younger X-cast or recast them entirely.

I'm not 100% convinced that Xavier is dead. It was a psychic attack so he could have survived. There is some precedence in the Uncanny Xmen comics to support this as Cyclops has suffered a psychic death and survived. They also never really confirm the existence of mutants in the movie either. They only introduce Xavier as the final member and not as a mutant leader. I'm wondering if our 616 Strange will seek out his alternate, as 838 Xavier did trust in and help our 616 Strange.

I THINK, they are about the same as far as abilities manifesting, but the difference is that mutants occur naturally while Inhumans are created through Terrigen Mist, which is actually deadly to mutants.

Quintin Beck, or a member of his creative team probably got the name 616 from a dream. Also Kristine named her universe 838, not 001, or not the prime universe or anything like that. This suggest to me that there could be some sort unique quantum or positional indicator of universes and matter and or energy. Too technical? Maybe every universe has its own frequency, and maybe Kristine's universe frequency is 838, and the main MCU is 616. So there's your copacetic solutions 😎. Now let recon this BS about all dreams being views into other dimensions.

Entering multiverses phases I always wondering if MCU will make a difference between “Timeline” and “Multiverse”. In Loki the story was “multiple timelines clashes with each other” and we have “deviants” that is the same identity but way different in appearance. While in multiverse we have same character being the same all over the multiverse That said, clashes between Multiverse and clashes between Timelines would be different

7th seat is vacant, because Xavier is introduced as the final member. Mordo took Strange's seat, yes. So 7th seat is still a mystery. Someone else mentioned that it may be empty because TChalla did not accept the invitation request. So I think it could/should be either TChalla or Namor.

lol we get introduced to another universe and you act like it's the only other one out there. like your whole idea is just: kang, 838, 616, and a place like battle world. i hope it's more than that. i hope if they do something like battleworld, that way more than just two universes are involved. and i honestly think 838 was meant to be a throw away universe. not saying we may never see a character from 838 again, but i doubt 838 will continue to be a big deal like you think it will.

I feel like it’s often not brought up that Earth 838 literally has a Franklin Richards??? If he is even anywhere close to the power level of his comics counterpart, we have a reality warping being with immeasurable powers pissed and angry and ready for revenge, even if the incursions don’t happen or 838 isn’t gonna to to war, who’s to stop a young Franklin Richards from literally barreling across the multiverse to settle a score? Personally, beginning with Spiderman NWH and now Doctor Strange ITMOM, I've had some nagging thoughts of sadness about the direction that the MCU is going. I think Screencrush has been hitting the nail on the head with where the MCU is going - multiversal war; death of numerous heroes; destruction of universes; reset/reboot of the franchise. That idea really saddens me. I'm almost 40 and growing up on Marvel comics throughout the 90s I always wished for great Marvel films. There are so many stories to tell in various media these days, whether it's live action tv shows or cartoons or movies. While I know that the same actors can't play these characters for decades, the idea that we're very likely going to see a reset/reboot of the MCU within 10 years is sort of heartbreaking. I'd like to see these actors/actresses perform more stories in the Marvel comic universe's movies on the silver screen, but it's inevitable that they are replaced. The Avengers are a cornerstone of the comics and they were around... 10 years in film? Less? We barely scratched the surface with them before they were gone. I feel like that's the same with all of the other characters and their portrayals.

that's the odd thing. the MCU was originally basedoff of the ultimate universe. hence why we have samuel jackson/nick fury. but it's blended it's self a bit with the main comic universe too. but i don't think 838 would be an equivalent to the ultimate universe. in that universe, reed was kind of an asshole lol.

Due to He Who Remains saying it doesn’t matter that Sylvie killed him because he will just be back where is was before means that nothing that happens in the multiverse war will matter. Because He Who Remains will form the sacred timeline again and the MCU616 will just be like it was. Or am I wrong?

I have a feeling that Marvel knows their stories are getting so big and complex that they’ll lead into universal destruction in order to reboot the MCU and start from scratch with a different set of “original avengers” for the next generation of fans to grow up with.
