Hello. I have 6 of these chairs and love them, however, after 16 years they have become a bit jaded colour wise, I need to know any information regarding painting them, Cheers in advance for your help.

Don't paint them!

16 years is an excellent record. Shame so much of what is thrown at the consumer today may not last 16 weeks! My only answer is, these were not meant to paint.

If they’re original brand I wouldn’t advise painting them....however, if not you can use a light grit sanding sponge to key the surface & smooth any irregularities, apply a base primer + top coat of a paint meant for plastics or fiberglass

I have some replicas I just picked up off the curb, it is scuffed in several places with the paint is flaking in places and you can see a translucent plastic underneath (it’s not solid colored plastic, it’s a replica with just regular plastic underneath with a coat of paint over top) I want to paint it the classic red color. How would I go about doing this? ( Essentially, I’m not going to be risking damaging something very valuable, and am doing so in a way that will not be sacrilegious, I just don’t want it to look like I grabbed it off the curb)

Try treating the surface with a heat gun
