Sorry to get serious on this post but "of course we weren't going to get universal healthcare, this country can't handle that".... why is that? I'm not american so this is a bit wtf to me. Surely healthcare is the no.1 priority need for a community. And the whole point of a government is meant to be to take care of your community right? Otherwise, you get rid of that governing body and create one that will. i.e. one would expext usa to be on the brink of social collapse and it should not be referred to as a "developed country", in the sense that many people refer to a "developed country".

America is not a nation of people so much as a profit generating machine for the ultra rich, that's why. There's no room for humanity in the machine. And the American people can't change that, because half their population has been successfully brainwashed into thinking poverty is a character flaw and working 24/7 is the meaning of life and anything bad that happens to you must be your own fault and help is for weaklings and commies, and half of the other half still hasn't woken up to the fact that there is no functioning democracy in America, leaving only a quarter of Americans who even see just what the feck is going on, and who are appropriately but impotently freaked out, and/or depressed and apathetic.
