I am immensely grateful that my true appreciation for whisk(e)y came from you and Rex. And perhaps the best thing you ever taught me was how to share this appreciation with my friends. Thank you!

Daniel any chance you can start sharing some of the successes from the Whiskey Academy alumni? Hearing their stories at some point would also be cool.

Thank you for the video and your story. There’s arrogant people with big egos in a lot of teaching roles like you mentioned with wine and whisky, I’ve experienced that in aviation. In my experience though, the teacher can have a profound impact on a student but mainly in terms of enjoyment, passion and happiness which can make the student enjoy the profession more and stick around in it a lot longer maybe more so than the actual theory of teaching better than another teacher. Just my 2 cents thrown in there but what would make me choose your school over another isn’t necessarily better teaching, maybe that’s similar but I think your passion is infectious and I’d enjoy the course more with you guys and i think that’s an often overlooked reason in choosing a school. Still on the bucket list but for the moment I still can’t find the time. Wishing you and the school all the best for 2024!

The amazing people from the school I have met over the years is mind blowing. So many not only talented but also generous with knowledge and time to help others in the community is astounding. Truly one of the greatest programs I have ever had the honor of learning from. What so many of them have accomplished so far in only 8 years is unbelievable. Cheers

Yes, Hungarian oak being a different type of oak than usual, it is also from a volcanic area with that type of soil which apparently adds a different flavour. They source the barrels from North East Hungary from Kádár Cooperage if I am not mistaken

Hey Daniel, just wanted to tell you that I am absolutely loving the new format. You are a great storyteller. I also liked the old format with Rex but you really took this chance and flew with it. I can't wait for more episodes to drop bc I already binged through all the current "new" ones.

I started drinking whiskey because I liked watching fraiser and liked=d when they would express knowledge on wine, but I don't like wine and I wanted to do that so I said why not whiskey then I found this channel. Now I can pick out notes on the nose and the taste and love exploring whiskey. All thanks to the help from you and Rex

Great story telling, Daniel. So good in fact that I didn’t notice the boom mic in the shot until the last 3 minutes 😂.

I had to go back and watch the video because for the life of me, I couldn't figure it out what are you guys were talking about with a boom mic. Turns out it's not a boom mic because I was actually using a lapel. It's the back of the miniature spotlight that shining a light in the corner of that bookshelf.

I could watch you all day. Could I ask, is there a tip for people who can't get past the "alcohol" taste of whiskey? My friend can't seem to enjoy it no matter how much water I add. Have 2 Irish, 2 Bourbon and 2 Scotch open with him tonight and all i got from him = Warm, Spice and alcohol...

We have a "Method & Madness" division at my company, buy we call it FIT (Foresight, Innovation, and Technology). We're an engineering and architecture firm, and I am in charge of helping us find new technologies and processes that can help us add value in some way. We have an internal grant program, so anyone in the company can explore new technologies and run pilot projects to see if it's something the company can benefit from. I joke that I get to play with new toys all the time 😉

I've always been mildly curious about the Whiskey Somm program but based on your goals, I would be just another guru perhaps. A nerd in search of knowledge is perhaps more accurate, I enjoy amassing knowledge and the tools it provides but often find myself doing this only to forward my own learning. As you say, Daniel, I guess I don't REALLY really like whiskey.
