3:53 Canada has passed a law saying that apologizing does not constitute any admission of culpability. They needed to protect our right to apologize for things that aren’t our fault.
@jesthered7966Күн бұрын
Sorry, yes, because we will apologize if anything bad is happening even if we didn't do it.
@ElijahCemКүн бұрын
I don't know if my state has this law? But I know that there is a similar thing where a doctor apologizing doesn't constitute an admission of wrongdoing. Because doctors apologizing makes for less lawsuits against the hospital but doctors were afraid to apologize because it could be seen as an admission of guilt.
@ivanclark227523 сағат бұрын
That’s a great law. I feel like the risk of getting sued for showing basic decency like that creates a lot of unnecessary conflict.

Oldster here. There's a 2012 episode of 30 Rock where Jack humiliates himself in front of a conference room full of business colleagues. Tina Fey's Liz Lemon dances shirtless on the conference stage to help him out, becoming the more embarrassing conference memory for all involved. It's a pretty great epi that cements their work friendship.

I know that feeling with the show he couldn't remember. I'm 47, and I've always had a great memory, I think, because the more you think about memory, the more horrible it gets. Did I always have a great memory, or have I just had this persistent feeling that I always did, and I never remember that I'm wrong about that. Or have I always had a terrible memory, and it's getting better, and the feeling of remembering things for the first time in my life feels like I've always had a great memory, because I don't remember how awful it was for years? I spiraled on this one night a while ago. Or maybe many nights, since I can't trust anything now! Anyway, presuming I'm right, and that I've always had a remarkably good memory, something happened during COVID that changed that. I don't know if I ever got it, because I'm the 7-time raining world champion introvert. I was BUILT for lockdowns. For many years now, Facebook would say "remember this thing from 8 years ago?" and I'd say "Yep, and that's the one where Rob said 'you can pry that from my cold dead hands'," and then I'd click through, and there was his comment from 8 years ago, word for word what I remembered. Repeat that for years and years. Then one day, I got a memory, and I didn't remember it. I clicked through, and it felt all foreign to me. There I was, replying to to someone in a funny way, but I had no memory of that, either. I looked, and it was from 2021, only 2 years earlier! Huh! This had never happened. Then it kept happening. The worst involved a KZbin video of a guy dressed in a Starfleet uniform, singing a silly song that I thought my friends would like, and it had some production value, and he was a bit campy and weird. It was not the kind of thing you forget. I went to post it for my ST fan friends, but as I was copying the link, I saw that I had liked the video, at some point in the past. I stared in disbelief. Then I thought with a sigh "I'd better check I didn't post it before, in case I really am losing my mind," and there it was, from only a year earlier. And there I was, having conversations with friends about it in the comments. Absolute horror. I know about the guy on Reddit who kept finding ominous notes in his apartment, who lived alone, and some other guy in the comments told him to get a carbon monoxide tester, and the guy did, and it turned out he had a leak, and it was way over the limit. I don't think that's it. It wasn't happening for anything else, just posts online, and only in the few years of COVID. Thankfully, it's been fading away over time, and I'm back to normal... I THINK! Who knows? By the way, sorry if I've written all of this before.

Nightstand is one of the places where I believe it is most important to protect your peace. Just put all that stuff in a box or on top of a dresser or anywhere else that isn't right next to your head while you sleep. You can deal with the mess some time during the day but let yourself wake up and go to sleep feeling human. See also: Dana K. White's "head explosion rule" 😅
