There is a variety of slice shots in padel, all requiring slightly different techniques! So in this video we explain how to hit slice and when to use it with attacking volleys, but also the DROPSHOT!
We cover all the shots, go through the learning steps and give drills for each in this course: thepadelschool.com/courses/on...
Slice in padel is used at different times to tennis, so changing that mindset is important for those coming from tennis! Here slice is used on higher balls when you are more attacking in the point, either to finish the point or to "setup" the finishing shot!
To play better matches you need to understand the tactical principles in padel, so in this course we breakdown all the tactics: thepadelschool.com/courses/ta...
If you enjoy learning more about padel, The Padel School blog has plenty of articles discussing various parts of the game: thepadelschool.com/blog/
Players that regularly compete and want to look a little deeper into their matchplay can access our analysis products here: thepadelschool.com/analysis/

Super content as usual! As a former tennis player the biggest differences lie in playing slice with overheads and with volleys. Even though a vibora is very much like a slice serve into the A side outer corner in tennis and base line shots with slice are very much like a chip-and-charge shots in tennis and even the volley drop shot is somewhat familiar from tennis, hitting volleys softer and with more slice and the bandeja with slice are totally specific to padel and still require hours upon hours to get the muscle memory in. The grind continues!
@ThePadelSchool
@ThePadelSchool 3 жыл бұрын
Haha if it was too easy it would be boring...yes the vibora is like a slice tennis serve with a really wide ball toss ha. The better the level I find the less players try to hit slice on everything and the more changing rhythm and control plays a part. Always learning :)

@@ThePadelSchool yeah, the flat ground strokes and chiquitas and neutral volleys have become quite reliable and the kick smash has now stepped into the picture as a suprise tool and a lot of times as a sure way of winning the point. I've been watching games on KZbin of advanced level amateur players, since the god-like WPT level of execution is unreachable for me, and it has helped me a lot in figuring out the gradual steps with which I have to develop my game. Always learnin indeed!

I really enjoy your videos and since I am quite new to Padel they help me a lot! I have one huge issue though: When I anticipate my opponent is about to smash (which is not easy to tell since he can end up going with a soft hit) I am not sure when to start running towards the net so I can hit the ball after it comes off the back glass. Most of the time I am late and can’t return that ball. Maybe you can do a video on that problem, I would appreciate it a lot!! Keep up the good work!!

Great question and something alot of players have difficulty with. Made even more difficult if your opponents are good enough to do an effective 'fake' smash...as soon as they get into the 'trophy' position you can start taking steps forward (before they've even contacted) and then it is a sprint forward once they hit...not a casual few steps. You are right, this topic deserves a video!!
@user-vj5lj4yw2b
@user-vj5lj4yw2b 3 жыл бұрын
The Padel School a video on this topic would be awesome! When I take a few steps forward I end up standing in no man’s land which is not an ideal position on the court. So how can that be avoided..?
@ThePadelSchool
@ThePadelSchool 3 жыл бұрын
Tim it’s not a problem to step into No Man’s Land...the problem is when people stay there. So if you take your steps forward and then they decide to hit soft to the back you move back to the defensive position at the back or if they go for the smash you sprint forward...

Is it good to use the slides and drop shoots?? Just the other day I was criticized for using this resource on the play. My rival was very made at me and started to yell that those shoots are ilegal on pádel and that also are a sign of a person that doesn’t know how to play padel. I said that it was the opposite because making drop shoots and slides requires of a certain technique on this

Isn't the "attacking slice" at 3:45 similar to a bandeja but after the bounce?
@ThePadelSchool
@ThePadelSchool 2 жыл бұрын
Similar, but because the ball has bounced the speed is alot slower, so you can be much more aggressive with the spin and racket head speed - it would be a big risk to do it like that on a lob, because the ball is moving much faster on contact...make sense?

@@ThePadelSchoolcan you practice this attacking slice on you own similarly to the Bandeja (by throwing up to yourself and hitting)? It would also be nice with a thorough explanation/vid on how such an attacking slice is different from a Vibora/Bandeja. Should you go for the Vibora over the attacking slice if you have both options etc.?

isnt it the same technique as the bandeja?
@ThePadelSchool
@ThePadelSchool 3 жыл бұрын
Hammody A similar with the slightly open racket face, but the shot intention is different, so the speed/spin are different. Also the contact point is usually higher for the bandeja...but I suppose they have similarities 👍
