It's always been something I hold in great regard. That's way i brought this in to the channel early, a bit like the one I tried last year. I always focus on my favoured attributes to conform suspicions or mythbust. Means i can be better in my saves 🤣

Ralph alert! ❤ Seems like determination is much more important for performance than development. Many reached mid 170s CA which is kind of surprising considering how bad their determination was. If I remember the ambition experiment they were hard capped around 130 or 140 CA. The performance effect is also surprisingly big. This team with 10 determination across the board is probably winning the league a few times and constantly in top4.

Indeed. The 20 determination re run of this will be an interesting part 2 I think. I genuinely enjoyed the experiment as well so I feel there is lots to unpack with other attributes as well. Also, yes. The Ralph Klaxon sounds. In my saves/experiments, Ralph is inevitable

Yeah, kobbie mainoo only has 5 determination, but he developed well in my save. Even scoring a few winners for my United save.

Thanks for the video Jay, attribute tests throw up some interesting results. An idea: consistently average vs inconsistently brilliant. Set up 1 team with average (for the prem) CA but 20 consistency, 1 team that are brilliant CA but 1 for consistency. Lock attributes. See who does best over 20 years?

Hmmm that's not a bad idea you know. I might factor that in to one in the future as a test. I do kind of enjoy the manager merry go round though and see who comes in and gets the job. Great suggestion though and something to consider 👌

A really good personality is sporting with determination 5 or lower, it means their professionalism and other hidden attributes are very high. I've always wondered with low determined players if you should mentor them with sporting players, I've never had the player/s to do it, but it might be easier than just trying to raise their determination.

Interesting... i found sportsmanship as an attribute was inverse for development and success on last years FM, but sporting personality might be different as a breakdown so may be useful. I think I will run a few personality ones following on from the Fickle experiment

@@jayhuahua As far as I know it's only professionalism and ambition that effects development. Determination or sportsmanship, has no bearing at all, it's better to look at their media handling style, evasive being one of the best ones. The important thing is under 5 determination for sporting personalities, they are pretty rare, but have been some of my best players in FM.

The face pack isn't really one. I manually add a player face made in midjourney to each unique ID for players within my experiments

@@jayhuahua Running a regular unemployed save and creating a statistical analysis with the data from every newgen over every year over a 15 year period. I look at current ability, potential ability, age, and the dap score (determination ambition and professionalism) for each player each year of the game save. If I want to do further testing I could make a custom database to test training grounds impact on development

Absolutely. Its a series I'm doing already. I have a video focusing on Fickle Wonderkids already on the channel and I am aiming to work through many different personality types. I feel it's better that way than a squad with 10 different personalities because some may not get played annoyingly

Very surprised by this findings ... I mean, players reaching their PAs depended on so many factors like coaches and training grounds and playing time and, yes, hidden stuff like Professionalism, so for them to reach 170/200 is like, okay, not a problem. But a team of 170-ish players not winning anything, not even the League Cup ... wow. Used to not care about Determination when signing anyone. Have to rethink a little ... I mean, I used to have great players with 4 Determination too. Of course not the whole team ... what i remembered is that my team better score first (and not concede any hopefully), else the low Det folks are gonna drop their shoulders and maybe not play well for the rest of the match. ... According to the manual anyway. Yes, there used to be a manual for the game. 😅

Oh of course, there are LOADS of factors and getting within touching distance is still very good. However as you mention, the lack of trophies is startling and I think the follow up vid with 20 determination for everyone will be equally as thought provoking.

That would work as UK nations are exempt from work permits. Also 2nd nationality works to a degree but it can be a bit volatile and ruin an experiment which can be a huge waste of time. I am still testing things out though so fear not, variation will occur

Haha there was no official start date. But I'd say after an update where he was sacked as Southampton manager, he became england manager almost every experiment and after 6 or 7 it started to become a thing and Ralph watch was born.
