I just found an interesting bit of history of Taiwan, or Formosa as it was called, on SandRhoman History channel. The Dutch were the first to bring Chinese settlers to Formosa in the 1640s. Later the remannts of the Ming Dynasty, fleeing the Manchu Qing Dynasty under Koxinga, drove the Dutch out with the help of the Chinese settlers and aborigines. I had no idea Taiwan had previously served as a refuge to the remnants of a previous dynasty.

I think the biggest diversion between Russians and Ukrainians came post-1991 when Ukraine managed to maintain pluralistic institutions, whereas Russia quickly fell under the spell of Putin's dictatorship leading to a completely apathetic society like we see today.

Electricity tech is really old tech and very analog, going back to the 1950s, because all it is doing is carrying current. So it is quick and easy to repair.
