The witchcraft is basically deceit, or wrongful persecution of pagans. Christianity spread Noahide Laws, it is Tikkun Olam. Yehoshua Gordan on Habad TV was reading about touching 3 year old girls and the regrowth of their hymens after being injured by an imaginary piece of wood, a lie for the juice to blame the girl and pass capital punishment on her similar to kapparot blood rituals so the juice pedo activities go unnoticed. Citing Niddah 44b and the Mishneh (Sefer Kedushah, Issurei Biah, Chapter 12, Rule 10).

The whole idea of demons and witches only being able to perform sleight of hand tricks reminds me of Umineko, a visual novel with that being a major premise. The main character has to argue with a self-proclaimed witch on how a series of murders were or weren't done with magic, with the witch having several demons carry out murders and the main character having to demonstrate how they could have been done by humans. It's a pretty fun VN, especially for fans of Agatha Christie or Dante.

As a Dutchman I must say that Johannes Wier might indeed not have acted out of mercy or some sense of ethics or moralism; he just really disliked the papals and katholics and attempted to undermine their influence in Europe. This would make more sense, because his original texts in Dutch hardly refer to Birks' Malleus Maleficarum (Witches Hammer), even though it's the book that stoked the fires of the Witch trials. Probably because the book was not approved by the Church, and condemning it would mean agreeing with the papists. All speculation, afcourse.

@craigsurette3438 Жыл бұрын
I am in complete agreement that the werewolf myth is probably tied into the Indo European wolf warrior phenomenon. My working hypothesis is that some parts of the Ulfhednar wolf warrior tradition survived into the Christian era. We do know that some werewolves were said to transform themselves via a magical wolf skin belt, vs simply being cursed and becoming wolves involuntariness, which implies a holdover of some sort of animistic wolf magic practice was involved

29:57 "In general, Weyer comes down mostly on the side of mercy, education and medical treatment, though sometimes he does get medieval and oversteps himself, noting that in egregious cases of sorcery worldly punishments should suffice when God himself, you know, takes a break and doesn't punish people when they should be punished. Yet, in other places, he even argues against the death penalty for these cases, to fight the fact that Mosaic law makes it explicit they should be killed, suffer not a witch to live; after all he notes there are other places in the Mosaic law that insist on capital punishment, like when your children are bad, and no one does that, so we shouldn't carry out capital punishment just because Moses said so because we don't always do that, so much more the case when you know, witchcraft isn't even possible..." Of course, if Weyer's message had been taken literally, the world might have been deprived of corpse paint, and numerous wooden churches might have still been standing, not to mention not to mention all of the house pets belonging to teenagers that might have lived to produce tens of thousands of unwanted strays. This video is a rim shot to the film careers of Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Vincent Price. Our Rabbi Dr. Sledge is the Mel Brooks of actual historians. What would we do without him in this new dark age??? * * * * * This video gets five "pentangles" (NOT drawn by Peter de Abano) PS: Mental note to self to get Agrippa's fourth book.

I was surprised at how hesitant the Inquisition seemed to be to go after the men who claimed to be Benandanti (werewolves who fight witches in the astral realm). It took many years for the Inquisition to find a way to create a diabolical motivation for the men so they could persecute them, and in the end, I think only one man claiming to be a Benandanti was ever executed. So they finally decided that werewolves were just feral children and dudes on medieval bath salts, I guess. Back to killing off the women!

14:31 If this guy was trying to help the women back then then I get how he would go that route but those ""corrections"" did worst in the long run. Also it makes sense that the devil is weak he just victimsied by god afterall and how you described him matched how I decided the true victim on some fictional thing when everyone else was telling me otherwise. like this dude was giving out false strength while he was weak and I realized the devil might be doing the same I mean while his abuser is giving out false weakness eg""playing the victim all the time"" while actually being strong I guess it seemed like something these witch hunters didmall the fricken time pointed to a womens tiny way of gaining power while they were given unearnedmpower strait off the bat.

Okay wait, so the Genesis passage about Noah waking and realizing what "Ham had done" and how he (Ham) "saw the nakedness of his father" has always confounded me. You say it was about seizing power, but would you say there's a sexual element here? Later in the book of Kings, Saul chastises Jonathan for befriending David and mentions the nakedness of Jonathan's mother. Is this a similar reference to power and does this reference to power also hold a hidden reference to a sexual act? Is the idea of this type power simply the concept of dominance, similar to the dominance Lilith wanted to have over Adam?

The story is probably a lot simpler- there was a strong taboo in southwest Asia against not protecting the honour of the father, and by not covering up his father he violates this. It’s also probably a composite text anyway.

Interesting to hear about enlightenment moving like a slow and heavy wheel of fortune grinding on a rusty trunnion.
