Thank you so much for sharing this recipe video of Portuguese kale soup. My great grandmother was from the Azores and made this same version of soup as you make. She taught my Nana to make it and I grew up loving this hearty, delicious soup. Unfortunately I lost the recipe and forgot the ingredients. How wonderful that I stumbled upon your video and find that you make the kale soup exactly the same way as I grew up with. I'm really looking forward to making it very soon. Many thanks for sharing this recipe with us here on KZbin. I am so grateful to you! 🤗

Out of all the videos ive seen on this soup, this recipe is by far the closest ive seen to my Nana's version minus the tomato sauce.

My mother did not use the tomato or cut peppers. She also used pinto beans instead of kidney beans. I think I'll try this version to add to my soup recipes. If you can't find a shank bone we also used a bone in chuck roast. Our linguica was added whole and both meats were served separate as a side dish.

aztec1353 so interesting. I’m sure there are many family recipes. This is my mom’s and I love it but as long as there’s kale and linguica I think you’re good to go. I just made a version with white beans and added parsnips, carrots and sweet potatoes. Happy cooking!
