Lots of vintage instruments are used here: 2 x Moog Prodigy synths, 1 x Roland Juno 60, a Roland Jupiter 8, a Roland TR-808 and more stuff. None of this equipment is being manufactured today. It's all from 1980-82 basically. This was HJ's "startup" set of synths, forming a lot of his sound.

I loved this song from the first listen and learnt to play it from Howard's appearance on the Old Grey Whistle Test. It took me hours, days and weeks to get the lead Jupiter 8 lead synth part right. I even tried to do the song justice with a cover version of my own whilst holidaying with my Son in Miami. It's still my favourite song ever even some 41 years later. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXiYq6Ofpq2CZqM&start_radio=1

Everybody wants to feel happy, even if you think that you don't Everyone wants to know the secret, even if you think that you don't Everybody thinks they're different from the next man now But we just got to realize we're just the same Always appear to be someone better You know there will always appear to be someone worse You know there'll always appear to be someone better You know there'll always appear to be someone worse, oh Everyone has got their character Everyone has got their personality But the longing is still the same So what is the answer by easy on yourself Make yourself feel at ease maybe that's the answer Always appear to be someone better You know there will always appear to be someone worse Always appear to be someone better You know there'll always appear to be someone worse, oh We're just the same don't you know We're just the same don't you know Looking over there He looks different, she looks different They might even be different But we're just the same, don't you know We're just the same, don't you know We're just the same

20th anniversary concert in 2003, did anyone know whether Howard still keep the synthesizer instrument I supposed was used back in his 80's time as we can see in the video or its manufactured just for him, instrument company don't make that anymore, Im not knowledgeable person.
@zibbybone5 жыл бұрын
All of the equipment he used on this song/performance has been out of production since the early 80s. HoJo still kept his Roland Jupiter 8 (lead sound), Juno 60 (string sounds) and one of the Moog Prodigy synths (bass). In an interview I saw shortly after this concert, he explained that he repurchased (used) Roland TR-808 (drums) and the Sequential Circuits ProOne (synth playing the steady 8th notes throughout the song). Many of these instruments' sounds are now available in digital emulations (either software or hardware), but nothing beats the sound of the original instruments.
