I really love how Howard Jones uses emotions and music to make us feel that there is nothing else at that time but that song. Very rare to do and most artist don't have it like he does he makes you feel alive and kicking what a guy xx

What I always Loved about Howard is the positivity! I was amazed that there is only one slightly neg post here. I love Mr Jones and the wonderful songs he gave us to sing with thru the eighties, and so happy to find that this dream hasn't ended yet. What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Understanding?!!! To be sure....

Как же я люблю эту песню (пьесу) ! Как много в ее гармонии и тексте объясняет нам о радости, о святой и чистой радости, что между шепотом и шумом, что между нами скрыто!... Ах, Howard! What Is Love?.. It"s Joy!

Back in 1989, I waited impatiently to find love. It took 15 long years of tears and loneliness, but I finally met and married a wonderful woman in 2005. Five kids later, I can tell you for sure she's the one. From "Everlasting Love" to "Joy" Howard Jones is me, except with a great voice!

Cool song. Joy seems to be something I know very little about these days. Depression and sadness are way more constant. I wish my life was so much different.

Lee Brown Agreed :) I f I remember that correctly, Jones once had an accident, and his (then ?) girlfriend bought him a keyboard to play with during revalidation. That was how he got into music. I don't know if that is the true story or something invented by record companies, but, as Italians say, se non e vero...

I believe the story is that Howard was already a very, very accomplished musician (he's a classically trained pianist), and his wife was involved in a car accident. The compensation money she received was used to purchase some new equipment (synthesizers/ drum machines), which at the time were very expensive for most average people. It was with this new electronic equipment that helped Howard develop his early electronic sound that would then springboard him to success.

On Joy and Sorrow Kahlil Gibran Your joy is your sorrow unmasked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears. And how else can it be? The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven? And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives? When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. Some of you say, "Joy is greater thar sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater." But I say unto you, they are inseparable. Together they come, and when one sits, alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed. Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy. Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced. When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.

Main polyphonic arp theme... Spectrasonics Omnisphere! Besides being a great tune, lyrics are brilliant!
