Weatherly’s genius at KROQ started in 1992; the new music was there in 1974. We had our share of klunky program directors; the station survived in spite of them. Weatherly made us truly world famous.

I never saw Weatherly's "genious", I was already out of there by then, in fact I don't even know who he was, but If YOU are making the above comment I'll buy that. Hey it's Jed, hello old pal!!!

My dad and I used to listen to Kevin and bean every morning. Since he passed, listening to them still was like still listening with him. That’s how long they were on the radio and how welcome they were into us listeners lives. It deserved more respect than this.

Found this by searching "what happened to Kroq" twice in the last week I switched the channel because they were playing RAP. I'm like...if I want rap there's plenty of stations for that. I wanna Rock!

Yeah and it’s not even good rap. Bet they’re gonna start have “classic alternative” stations soon

Like I said in another comment here.. Unfortunately, rock is pretty much dead in mainstream. It seems like the end of the NuMetal era, was also the end of rock in general, as far as the mainstream goes. It seems like everyone these days listens to modern hiphop... you know.. the kind with click tracks, autotune and a rapper that sounds like a mentally challenged, drunk hobo, after you kicked him and woke him up from a nap and asked him a bunch of random questions... Like that.

Yup, listened to KROQ from the early 90s through when they started dumping everyone in 2017-18 or so. Losing Lisa sucked, but the firing of Ralph was the last straw for me. RIP 106.7

Rick Carroll made KROQ into the unique station it was way back in the early 80s. And it's interesting to listen to Howard praise another radio personality, wasn't his act to humiliate anybody else in radio and call them every name in the book and constantly berate them on the air? I guess is the NEW Howard that says nice things.

When I moved to the inland empire then later to Colorado, I could not find a station that was anything like them. Now with the scumbags running them, it's gone forever.

@ 5:00 she got it right. "There's a trend going on". Radio is being driven into the ground on purpose to the point listeners will pay for content.

When I was growing up in LA, kroq to me seemed like a station based only on trends and what’s cool. Not a legit or real rock music radio station. Active rock radio is way better, hard rock, metal, and some classic rock bands. All about the music too and not trying to cater to only the young crowd. But unfortunately we didn’t have a station like that in LA. You have to have a streaming service, satellite radio, or listen to classic rock radio, which is always a winner over any other radio format.

I think it also has alot to do with the fact that nobody past the very first generation of millennials (which are technically late Gen Xers) listen to any form of rock anymore. Every radio station, with the exception of a few classic rock stations, play nothing but rap and hip hop. It's all the same sounding click-tracks paired with rapping that sounds like someone who just woke up from a drunken stupor. No one plays new rock anymore. Everyone just wants to be a hiphip artist, and record the same sounding shit over and over again. It really seems like the end of the NuMetal era was the end of rock... at least in the mainstream.

Kroq has gone completely downhill now. I can't even listen longer then 5 minutes too there radio show in the mornings. It's so cringe. Kevin, Bean, Ralph Gorman, Lisa May, and now even Striker is gone......It is so bad now. The guy Klein i don't even see how he even has a radio show.
