It´s complex for "pop" for sure, and I love that they didn´t go for the simple melodies and chord progressions that are in every pop song nowadays. Respect! But if you want even more complex songs, you´ll find plenty of it in jazz. Chord alterations, modulations, complicated rythms, dynamic solos etc. is all over that genre.

i love it when bands go all out to make one amazing long journey-song that defies normal song structures and explores the band's creativity for the sole purpose of telling a whole story. Think Muse's The Globalist, Green Day's Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming, Daft Punk's Too Long. I'm so happy that Coldplay decided not only to do a song like this but also to promote it as a single, it really deserves it.

What in the universe? This song is a beautiful, moving masterpiece. Even a hardened middle aged man like myself got emotional on this, and I'm not even sure why. This could be their best ever?
