Ryan, I’m not a GM guy but those videos from the drone while the tractor drives by and loading the bales are amazing! They should be in a commercial! Great videos and your nephew is too cute! Good luck this year, hope mother nature cooperates.

Relaxing to see someone else make hay. Nerve wracking when its my hay this year. First time I ever remember having issues in July and August with rain...incessant 1 and 2" storms all summer. 1 batch of hay didn't get wet...3rd cutting to start.

We plant around 30 acres of oats as a companion crop to our alfalfa, orchard grass, and timmothy mix. We cut ours in the late milk/ early dough stage and let it dry. Cattle eat it like candy. They will pass up high quality 2nd cutting and eat it first. Make sure you have a few good barn cats because you will have mice. We normally bale around 300 5 by 6 round bales and about 5000+ small squares a year. Everything is stored under roof

At the 15:20 ish mark you were driving around the far side of the hay wagon to pull the bales off, the teleskid is capable of reaching across to pull the bale off from the far side, are you doing this due to the flexibility of the hay wagon? I am curios, we have a telehandler we reach across the trailer with, but its a different style of trailer, I want to make sure its not a teleskid limitation.

I was wondering why you guys don’t wrap your bales in plastic? Is it not cost effective for your farm? Love the video. I like your partner in the truck.
@chevyon37s
@chevyon37s 5 жыл бұрын
David Garee it’s dry hay that is net wrapped, and they stacked them inside. A good tight round bale with net wrap and stacked correctly outside still sheds water pretty well, with only minimal spoilage around the outer layer or two. A true plastic wrapped dry hay bale can cause problems since it traps what moisture that is inside a dry bale and heats up in the sun. I plastic wrap wet hay bales, and we leave our dry hay unwrapped.
@HM-0410

hi, i am a dutch diary farmer and i was wondering why you don't rake with an 4 element rotary rake because in the Netherlands it is very common to rake with a rotory rake because when you rake with a "acrobat rakr, like you have" the only abillity we have here is to bale it because an forage harvester or a loading wagon will get plugged up after an couple of meters
