great fix but it's a hell of a lot of work to end up with an already compromised tank. I'd recommend replacing the tank with stainless steel and never having to worry about it cracking, but I appreciate the attention to detail, thanks for posting.

A bozillion videos on how to clean or fill an RV tank - first one I've seen where somebody actually drops the tank. Thanks for making this video. I get the privilege of dropping all my tanks (pre-existing poor floor repair that needs remediation), and this moves me in the right direction.

Thank you for sharing this method of repair. I have one thing to suggest; there are rubber couplings with band clamps that could be used to secure the pipe ends together just in case the tank get hit by something that causes it to leak again.

Great video! Thanks for showing the details of getting the tank out. You said you were using a union to put the pipes back together. In fact, you used just a simple coupler. It would be best to use a real union so that you can easily take it apart for the next time you have to remove the tank.

You can totally weld a crack. Even better, weld the crack and then weld a large patch of Abs over it.
@gcorpus55583 жыл бұрын
Could you use flex seal in the crack?
@TheHavocdog2 жыл бұрын
It looks like the Crack was progressing away from the vent. That tells me that the tank was moving in relation to the vent pipe. Probably during travel. The Crack will re develop with time if you don't intervene. I would put a flexible connection between the tank and the vent pipe.

No. A white tank is made of a different material (polyurethane) those need to be repaired with spin weld plugs.

@@alexisjennings1818 A white tank is usually for fresh water and will be square. A black tank will be for Grey or black water and will have rounded edges. All black tanks will be made of ABS plastic and these methods will work.

Wow! Love the quality and precise cutting of the hole in the floor for the drain pipe to the tank. Looks like someone thought it was a 10 inch drain pipe rather than the normal 1 1/2 pipe. Typical crappy RV factory construction.

Hi great video. I'm glad I did some research before just buying a new tank, for an old trailer. This last year I hit a bit of a dip and ripped off the entire discharge pipe for the grey and black water off right off.... yes we were off road... and it was more of a mud hole. lol. However, after watching your videos I am fairly confident I can fix it. Problem is I have to replace the flange on the black water. You had mentioned you did a vid, showing how to do this, but I can't seem to find it. Would you be able to send the link? or maybe let me know what part I will need to install a new flange onto the tank. Thank you, and cheers in advance.
@TrailerDayz6 жыл бұрын
You mean the blade valve, or the actual output flange the you glue the exit pipe into?
@thesarcasticangrydud6 жыл бұрын
@@TrailerDayz well both to be honest... the entire discharge pipe was ripped off. Blade valve, right to the tank. And the flange on the tank is mangled. So I will need to replace the entire discharge pipe. Blade valves included. It's all at the bottom of a mud hole in the mountains somewhere up the Coquihalla highway near Merrit. I figured the blade valves would be easy enough to order off Amazon. I am guessing a large ball valve wouldn't work that well for Blackwater?
@TrailerDayz6 жыл бұрын
@@thesarcasticangrydud Yep. Blade valves are cheap. You can replace just the valve: amzn.to/2IIU1LZ Or the whole thing with inlet flanges. Not sure if you can easily get the drain flange. If you have anything left of an outlet pipe at all it might be best to glue onto it with an ABS union.
@thesarcasticangrydud6 жыл бұрын
@@TrailerDayz there is a little bit of flange left at the tank, but it's pretty mangled, and it's cracked around the bottom, and the crack carries on up the side of the tank. If you have an email address, I can send you a quick video. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. The tank is easily accessible.

@@TrailerDayz Thank you, young fella. Likes your video "guide" & your decent grammer. First time hearing "blade" valve. Folk also incorrectly call them "slide valve". The correct name is gate valve. "Ball valves" are correctly called globe valves. Where is that video of making your swizzle stick?

keep in mind, this method only works for abs tanks, not polyethylene. Make sure you determine what kind your tank is. There is a much better way to fix these tanks, both abs and polyethylene, and actually makes the tank better and stronger than original, especially abs and there is no awful messy fiberglass and resin to deal with and no glues necessary. This method is incredibly slow, a lot of work and add up the cost of all the materials. Whew, to much time and work and only bridging the cracks. It will seal but wont gain any strength, no matter how many coats are put on.
