I've tried to make fried dumplings so many times - Always failed! But cause this recipe, I was so proud to serve my pretty little dumplings to my husband.. It must of been the milk and sugar cause usually I use water. Thanks for your channel!!!!! After years of using KZbin, you are my first and only subscription.

Johnny Cakes are awesome. My Aunt and Grandma would make these as a kid in the islands when i was little and i'd make them disappear as fast as they could make up a batch. These things when made can last a few days just warm them up in the microwave. Thats if they ever get to ever last that long uneaten. Johnny Cakes with Saltfish, Corn Beef, man that brings back my youth.

It really surprised me to read some of these comments . first , if your really a jamaican , you would know that sugar and milk can and most ppl used them in fried dumplings ; milk is put for the soft and tenderness of the finishing product , some times if you don't really see the preparation of it , it's kinda hard to taste the distinctive flavours that puts into it , but those are the few ingredients combine to really remind you why you love eating festival and Fried dumplings .

@markmobley52909 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier Maria, of course you know the reason for leaving the dough in the oven for a full hour is to let the dough rise.. I've been a chef for over 30 years if you add moisture to the dough it Will rise faster do that by putting a small pan with approximately 1 cup of water on the very bottom shelf of your oven .. above that so that it will absorb some of the most moisture I'm sure everything will turn out great

Made some these again this morning using your recipe. But just adding by experiment a bit by adding some Nutmeg, Mace & Cardamon since i have a lot and don't get to use them up often. It really adds a nice savory flavor to them and something you can experiment with at your discretion.
