This was such an awesome cake, as an avid reader and book lover I loved Harry Potter sitting in the armchair by the fireplace reading your husband's book, the rose left by President Snow to represent The Hunger Games, the wall mural for Percy Jackson etc. Although I didn't know a couple of books as I haven't read them yet I thought they made excellent features for this cake especially the Girl online one with the photographs, the ring from The Hobbit was also a personal favourite addition as one of my favourite books, although I haven't read Diary of A Wimpy Kid, I'm aware of it because of my friend's children who love the books. I will most definitely check out The Deep Enders as it sounds interesting and leave my review I'm sure it will be a great book! Thanks again for another awe inspiring cake tutorial. You make it look so easy lol.

I might be able to make these roses! I've tried to make Wilton's Buttercream Icing roses on a flower nail & even on a flat foil attached to the top of a nail the way Mom made them but never could duplicate it even though my piping skills on cakes rivaled her own & she was sent to culinary school by the Marine Corp. Funny how I didn't so much as pick up a parchment bag w/icing when I was younger, yet at 18yrs old, I baked a round 2 layer cake, placed icing to seat the bottom layer, used hot water in a glass on a decorating spatula to pick up crumbs so it didn't get mixed up in icing just as Mom had done probably hundreds of thousands of times, I added the icing to the top then carefully placed the top layer (no need for flipping it or building up a side. I learned to bake cakes that were the same height with no sloping & went on to teach my best friend who is more like a surrogate sister... I added icing to the top, spread everything with straight edges, no swishes left behind. Carefully colored each bowl set aside with icing for writing, flowers, leaves, etc.. I made it thru the entire cake & it looked like a cake out of a professional bakery. It looked even more so when I placed it in a box before heading to a family gathering for the uncle of someone I knew. He was in his late 80s & very sick but had tried so hard to make it to his birthday & did. My day was brightened by seeing the tears of joy in his face when we sat his cake in front of him. I'm sad to say, the uncle passed away a couple days later. I received cards for a number of years from his remaining family, along with thanks for making their uncle, dad, brother, & great-grandfather so happy on his last birthday. Mom was really proud too.

Firstly Ann I love your content, I don’t think I’m exactly your target audience (31 year old guy in the UK) but nevertheless you’re my go to for trusted baking tips and that warm feeling I used to get listening to my Nan as a kid 🤣. Your videos debunking cooking hacks from “content hacks” are fantastic too, I need more of that good stuff ☺️ I usually don’t comment but decided to when you mentioned The Deep Enders, id heard you mention it previously, and whilst it wouldn’t be my chosen reading material under normal circumstances (hence the late purchase) under lockdown I branched out to different genres for sanities sake and gave it a go, and it’s great, I really didn’t know what to expect... as it turns out I only managed to put it down three times, really engaging and you can tell how much care has been taken on it in all aspects. Me being a huge book lover, I loved the little Easter egg type features of the books such as the Percy Jackson poster and Harry Potter reading your husband's book. When watching this video I as getting very upset that my favorite series wasn't covered ( The Hunger Games). When further watching I was ecstatic that it made it to the top 2 and I absolutely LOVE the idea of President Snow's white rose being left in this cosy house. Referring to the book, Katniss was reminded of the presence and power of Snow and the Capitol. I really appreciate that you took the time to study the books you were creating. ❤❤❤
