If you want to grow leaves on your long vines you need to secure them to something. Use orchid clips, cable ties, string or tape and tie them to a trellis, a bamboo cane or even a curtain rail. Once you stop the vine from moving and searching the leaves will start growing straight away!

Your Hoya compacta, the first one, is the specific variety carnosa. I suggest taking some cuttings to fill out the pot to start more vines. It is looking great though. The inflorescnes are amazing and they bloom easily and a lot throughout the spring and summer. I found the older my plant was the more blooms it would put out repeatedly. The terra cotta pots are great. I love em. The really reduce the chance of overwatering. I liked to use cacti/succulent soil for mine and let it dry almost completely between waterings. It used even less water in the fall and winter months if you're in a temperate region. They love a bright window but couldnt bear direct sunlight where I live I'm N Alabama. Beautiful specimen :)

Loved this! I’m becoming a Hoya Head as I just got three more - Pubacalyx, Macrophylla and Retusa! I’m hoping you can give me some advice. I have three Hoya Compacta - one has four branches, one has three and one is a single branch. I’d love to combine them into one large pot and have a full plant. Is there a better time of year to do this? (I’ve had the single branch for about 9 months, the four branches for about 6 months and I just got the three branches yesterday.) Is there anything I need to be careful about - will it go into shock if I mess with it? I’m supposed to wait 30 days before I do anything with the newest one or I’ll void the warranty, so if it’s better to do it in the Spring, I’ll wait until next year. I’d appreciate any advice you have. Thank you so much in advance!! 💜💜💜

Loved the video! I heard that you should not pot hoyas in terracotta because the roots are "holding on" to it? I think your Krohniana may be in a pot that’s too big for it. I’d pot it down. Since the leaves are yellowing it’s probably because there’s too much soil and it’s not drying out quick enough.

You've got some really beautiful Hoya in your collection. I absolutely loved the wayetii. The finlaysonii is so cool. And I really like the colouration on the bordenii and the sigillatis. I actually don't consider myself a Hoya person, but that's mainly because I'm presently oversensitive to smells and so I need to avoid plants with scented blooms. Do you know whether there are any Hoya species with non-scented flowers? PS. I like your voice. It's so pleasant and soothing.
@wildfern3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! That's a really great question, I'm not sure if any of them are unscented. All of the Hoya I have had bloom have been a very mild scent though, only noticeable when I intentionally sniff them.
@onestrangeanimal32123 жыл бұрын
@@wildfern Oh, really good to know. That might not be a problem then, as that is actually the case with one of my plants. The blooms on mine don't smell anything like hoya flowers though. Mine is an Orbea so its blooms have a delicate scent of... rotting flesh ;) But since it's so mild and only noticeable if you get really up close and sniff it I can still keep the plant in my bedroom, which is the room with the best lighting for succulents.

Amazing collection 😍 how do you know which to let hang or which to trail upwards?
@wildfern3 жыл бұрын
Good question! I think most of the ones that throw out vines (like pubicalyx, carnosa, etc) could climb. The vines are typically looking for something to grab on to & climb, so it's easy to tell with those guys. But the ones that don't throw out those vines (Bella, linearis, polyneura) I just let trail.
