Way to go Carmen 👏, your hoya collection has grown so much over the past year. All of your hoyas look so healthy, it’s so true that some are slow growers 😩. I’ve learned the hard way to let them dry out, especially the thick leaves ones, but the thin leafed hoyas can be tricky. The curtisii loves humidity, I lost one before I knew this. Rosie is just too darn cute🥰🐶. Me personally find the thicker leaves easier 🤷🏻♀️. Loved the video💚

I have my curtisii in a terracotta pot and I let it dry out between waterings and it is growing really well. I water once most of the leaves lose their stiffness and are slightly bendy and it honestly couldn't be happier. (It's currently shooting out five vines at once!) I know a lot of people recommend keeping it slightly moist, but I found that mine would drop baby leaves and stagnate when I did that. This is just what works for me though, but I hope this helped some!

Hi Carmen, hoya love to be a little on the root bound side. When I repot my new hoya I always use a pot a little smaller than I would typically use. Newly repotted hoya will grow their roots first and then they will grow their leaves. They also love to be on a trellis. They love to grow up. Good luck.🌿🌱🌵🪴
I know this comment comes 2 years' after the fact, but I hope you checked your Hoya Curtisii for root rot. That's one reason why the leaves appear to be shrivelling up/looking dull even though the plant is being watered frequently. Probably a case of dry rot because they weren't being watered quickly/frequently enough initially.

I just ordered a Hoya Trio from Bloomscape and am getting another Hoya Compacta but once it’s acclimated, I’m going to put all three plants together and make one full plant. I’m also getting a Hoya Retusa and a Hoya Macrophylla in the Trio. I am also waiting for another Hoya that I ordered from Planterina (I got four plants with a 35% off coupon!) and it’s a Hoya Pubicalyx. I’m really excited to grow my Hoya collection! Your Crimson Queen looks amazing in that pot! Right when you showed it I was thinking " WOW, I love that plant/pot combo! Beautiful😃 Also, my favorite compacta ( I have 2, both with just 2 or 3 vines), FELL off my porch railing and completely came out of its pot and was lying there over night😬 I saw it and had to repot it in a new pot and it has slowly started to wrinkle up amd doesn't plump up when it's watered😖 I might be able to save parts of it, but it'll take FOREVER to grow it back. So I have also learned that their roots are very sensitive🤦🤷

Rosie!! I didn't know you had fibromyalgia, I'm very sorry to hear that. It was wonderful to see your substantial collection and I do love some of those pots! Especially the white one with the little blue bird motif. I've owned one Hoya and promptly killed it. Makes me a little nervous to try another one.

The little blue bird pot I got at Goodwill years ago. I do have Fibro and some days are easier than others, but I've learned what I can and can't do. Thanks for watching Lynn! 😊💚🌱🐶

Thanks for sharing. Nice hoyas & information. I have most of the same ones you have...wow! Oh your last name?(Whitehead) I have a few family members from New York who are a part of my family (Gibson) who carry the name Whitehead.

I killed my first cutisii in a terra cotta pot. However, my second is loving life, hanging in west facing window in original plastic pot.

It seems Curtisii is the drama queen of the Hoyas! It looks like she wants more humidity and water than the others. So I will try that. Thanks Casey! 😊💚🌱🐶

I have one that I would identify as hoya curtisii. I don't know what I am doing right but mine looks fine. (dumb luck). But the first thing that comes to mind is perhaps your curtisii would look better repotted. It seems to me there is nothing really wrong with your plant unless is has been dropping leaves, which it doesn't sound like it has.
@carmenwhitehead3 жыл бұрын
No, it hasn't dropped any leaves. The leaves were looking a little deflated, but didn't plumb back up when I watered. I've been giving it more humidity and deeper waterings. That seems to have helped.
@chatryna3 жыл бұрын
@@carmenwhitehead Interesting. I just recently acquired several varieties and was terrified to water them at first, but they clearly showed signs of dehydration, so of course I watered them. But a few of them are still soft, ie carnosa exotica. Sounds like I should let them dry out and then soak them and some may even need more than that. Maybe fertilizer as well?
@carmenwhitehead3 жыл бұрын
@@chatryna If you haven't fertilized them, I would. Worm castings are always a safe organic way.
@chatryna3 жыл бұрын
@@carmenwhitehead Very good to know. I will do that. I switched over to neptunes fertilzer. It's pretty mild and natural. Thank you for the tip!

I love Hoyas but they all seem to get pests. The Lil white cottony stuff. I removed them with need oil, alcohol and quarantine them too. It’s so much work when having to monitor them. Why is this happening. Any suggestions would be gladly appreciated. 🌵🌿❤️ Your Hoya collection is lovely, Carmen!
