This video is about the persecution of gay men in Chechnya and other countries. They’re being executed, thrown off buildings, it’s horrible…

Hozier is so good at writing/singing about serious and very sad topics but making it sound so beautiful. my favorite from him is Cherry Wine and its about a victim of domestic abuse excusing their abuser because they think thats just how they show their love.

That scene with the flare glowing over the man being dragged on the ground is so terrifying.

The way it lights up strong on the word 'church' really says all you need to know.

The grass is green. The sky is blue. Some people are coloured. Some people are gay ... Some people refuse to accept reality ...Ignorance creating fear and misery is the problem. Many layers to the onion ... maybe that's why I'm crying ...

As seen on Wikipedia: Lyrically, "Take Me to Church" is a metaphor, with the protagonist comparing his lover to religion. The song grew out of Hozier's frustration with the Catholic Church which, as somebody raised in the Protestant quaker faith, he saw as dominating the social and political outlook of the Irish state "Growing up, I always saw the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church

You have to cherry-pick the Bible to presuppose that God is just. A God can be real and unjust at the same time.

@@Layjus123 Random comment. I said a God can be real. I didn't claim he/it was real. You know that God is impossible. I disagree. Either way, my behavior is guided by empathy rather than any God presupposition.

The version of this song from Morgan James is way better than the original version. But this is just my opinion.
