Seriously, that made me teary. Her life's work, gone just like that. It goes to show how fleeting it all can be, and how you cannot get too tied to things, no matter how personal they are. Sometimes you have to let them go, and start all over again. (Reminds me of a girl I met during college - her family lost their home in a fire, everything gone, all photos, all mementos, everything. And she had a remarkable attitude about it all, because at some point they just had to say, "It's gone, we can't get it back, no one was hurt, we still have each other, so we move forward with memories.")
@studiocelestedesign4 жыл бұрын
Good god that loss would be such a blow. Even if you shake it off and move forward (because well, you're forced to) that's just entirely awful. I honestly can't get over her technique & skill; she's startlingly gifted. Bless you Raine, and I hope new paintings have brought you many new joys! x

As an oil painter I really admire his mum, not only does she have beautiful technique (the lighting, small details, realism, etc.) but she has a really admirable ability to portray things literally. She isn’t covering things in symbolism, instead she’s portraying them exactly and allowing that to be its own symbolism and meaning. She is a direct and beautiful artist. The fact she lost her works to fire is a tragedy indeed but I’m glad we still have more to see from her
