This computer is not a good candidate for a hackintosh. Last year I bought a new, base model M1 Mini for $570 from Costco (with warranty & full Apple support). The full-price M2 model is now $600 from Apple, and $500 with student discount. I think hackintosh is still viable for people who want to dual-boot into Windows & MacOS, but the clock is ticking. At this point, I wish there was hackindows. Windows 11 ARM on VMware Fusion still doesn't run some of my software. I do appreciate your videos.

I bought a Lenovo m70q a couple of months ago. Itś very similar to this HP (same CPU) and it only cost me US $200. It runs very fast even without upgrades. I'm still struggling a little to make it work with Monterey or Ventura (does not read NTFS partitions, even fron disk Utility), but works very well with Big Sur, Windows 10 and Linux Manjaro, yes, a triple boot small machine.

Agree, unfortunately, can't future proof hackintosh anymore with intel based CPU's. Price being so close to a M1 Mini, is hard to justify this build. I love Technolli is back, love his work!

@@miguelt.7997 yeah, but with tinyPC you can easily upgrade RAM and NVMe with cheaper price, that's why I think hackintosh will still live

Hackintoshing is fun, that is undeniable. But on a practical basis, what's the point of spending $500 in 2023 to juggle EFI, OpenCore, and all that stuff when an Apple Mac Mini M2 with 8GB of RAM now costs only $599 (+$200 with 16 gigs)?

I had this post error or one like it dual booting my HP zBook G5. Apparently MacOS and Win10 use different types of universal time clocks. I forget the details now but one used UTC and the other GMT. The solution easiest I found from Google was to boot into Win10 run a command line that instructed Windows to use a different clock type (the type Mac uses, GMT I think). Once both OSes we’re running the same type of clock the POST error goes away. YMMV. Cheers 🎉 to another great Technolli video!

I managed to pick up a brand new one for very cheap 1 month ago. Installed Ventura with another tutorial. Did you manage to install Ventura on the original Nvme? The SK Hynix 256 GB (BC711) that came with the HP gave kernel panics. I replaced it with WD blue SN 570 series, works flawless. I also have the clock battery error from the Bios, but not regulary. However, the clock from the Bios is ignored by macOS, so the system has to restore the time at every startup via the internet. Not too cumbersome. I like the HP considering the price I paid, full list price of this PC is a bit ridiculous compared to the new M2 Mac minis. Thanks for the great videos

This is obviously only worth it IF you already have one of these sitting around. And even then the performance versus an M2 is laughable. You can get a new M2 starting at $499.

$499 if you are a student I suppose, otherwise it's $579 or more, and zero upgradability. These HPs have a life even after their utility as a hackintosh come to a close. Not so with the M1s ^ M2s,, their clocks are ticking with every read/write operation and when any part goes, the whole machine goes with it. The Mac resale values are going to plummet soon, who will be willing to shell out the historically high resale prices for an M1 or M2 knowing their end of any use date is approaching? As it is now I would not buy a used M1 or M2, no idea how they were treated and no options when they fail. So Apple has really given the finger to the lower income/used market and to the environmental-minded people that Apple claims to support. They've always been seen as an elite brand, now they seem just elitist. I love their OS, like their hardware, it's obvious the feelings aren't mutual.

Unless these beat the specs of M2, the price is hard to justify. I can see running MacOS on cheaper hardware as a viable option.

I had the same problem on my hp the solution was by adding patch to kernel section and RTCMemoryFixup.kext so you need to go to kernel/patch and adding this line : Identifier : com.apple.driver.AppleRTC Base : __ZN8AppleRTC18setupDateTimeAlarmEPK11RTCDateTime comment: Disable RTC wake scheduling count:1 enabled: true limit:0 replace: c3 skip: 0 minkernel :19.0.0 arch : any
