In this video I'll perform a printhead replacement on an HP OfficeJet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One, the operation is the same on the other models listed in the title.
The entire repair process is pretty simple.

Paper towels
Cleaning Solution or Glass Cleaner
Latex Gloves (Suggested)
Of course, the new printhead!
The printhead can be bought on AliExpress or other sites.

I have a 6835 that has been in storage, in its original shipping box, for about 4 years - pull it out, set it up, and getting a "printhead problem" message that won't go away even after a factory reset. Was about to write it off and get a new one when I found out I can order a new printhead from WalMart, Amazon, just about anywhere, and now, thanks to you, I know I can easily swap it out myself. I am an old school tech geek who misses the days our gear wasn't made to be so disposable (so wasteful... and unreliable because they want it to break and make us buy new...) and we could repair it ourselves. I was even told the printhead wasn't a "consumer-serviceable" part but I suspected that wasn't really true... and you confirmed my suspicion. Thanks again! [edit] I fail to understand why there are 27 downvotes on this video (yeah, I use the extension to override YT's mask... I wanna know if a video is legit!) unless they are all from Canon fanboys, your haters, or HP bots hating you for costing them sales 🤣 [update] finally got enough time away from work to sit down and do the replacement, the swap itself was easy thanks to your video, but am still getting "problem with the printhead" errors and it refuses to copy or print, so I think the malfunction goes deeper and just gonna have to stick a fork in it, it's done... ah well, was worth a shot and thanks for the assist!

Just replaced the print head on my eight year old printer that HP said was irreplaceable, now prints as good as when I bought it and saved myself a bucket load of cash as well. Thanks for the great video, couldn't have done it without your help.

@@stevenpitts2198 I bought the C2P18 print head through Amazon, for $52.99 in September 2020 for my 6835 Office Jet Pro. I haven’t had any printing problems since I replaced the print head.

Very helpful deconstruction of printer. The only other thing ive found that isn't in the video is pressing the back arrow(bottom left even if it isnt lit up) 5 times from the main menu allows you to do a semi factory reset.

After years of dealing with various models of trash inkjets, I've become what you'd call an involuntary printer aficionado. I can say for sure that the threat of getting a screwdriver in the eye is absolutely real. Many times Ive become so frustrated that it's taken every ounce of willpower to drive off the urge to begin stabbing myself about the head with whatever pointy object is in my hand at the time.

Hi Paolo, very clear and helpfull explanations. Finally removing the printhead is quite easy on this HP printer !!! I had a problem of missing colour due to the unused printer for a long time. Removing the head and cleaning it cured the problem. There is now a new problem of mixed inks : the cyan ink with the yellow, which is probably due to a loss of sealing between the reservoirs, I just have to change the head ...

Thank you for this Printer knowledge buildup video. I am passing a hard time fixing the carriage problem and from your video, I learned that the film is not inside the sensor. My printer was HP office jet pro 6968 long time with me. Interesting thing HP customer service, they said the printer carriage not moving so buy a new printer. I did not believe it and did a factory reset. It started working. suddenly It stopped printing black ink. I thought it is an instant ink issue. But not. The printer head needs a deep clean. hope it works again. Thank you again for the video.

Excellent details but missed out on seeing which way the left hand ribbon connects when putting the top panel back on. Got it right 3rd time. All working well and feel like a Printer God now!

Thanks for the video - which was very helpful. My friend got a "There is a problem with the print head" message (0x0 ...etc) on his HP Officejet 6960 immediatley following a perfect test print - which suggests there was no blockage. I have got as far as removing the stuck down ink absorber pad and giving it a wash. I only needed to remove one screw on the metal bar then lift it to remove that messy plastic part. There is also a rubber belt type part that is covered in ink. Can that be removed and cleaned? By the way, is there more than one ink absorber pad in these All-In-One printers? If so, where are they? as I was surprised to see only ONE fairly thin pad under the print head sliding cage; though a ton(ne) of surplus ink washed out. Also, does anyone who reads this know where can people buy/make inexpensive replacement pads or materials that act like ink absorber pads (in the UK) & if you should stick the new pad down with some sort of adhesive? Once the pad is clean must you reset the HP Officejet cleaning cycle counter? How is this done? Some say you have to download a software program off the internet but is there another way - such as accessing a secret repair menu on the printer?

Very good video. My problem is that I did the alignment and new ink is in, but the Cyan color won’t print? I get two black squares when when I did the alignment and the other colors are fine. Does that mean I need what you did to fix my printer?

Hi Paolo, Thanks for the video! Though I am stuck 🙁 After replacing the head and finishing the work now the printer says "Carriage can't move" and it won't print. In fact the carriage moves, but it bumps to the left wall with quite a high speed. Can you advise what can be wrong? The optical stripe has been cleaned multiple times, could have I damaged by "overcleaning"? Please help what I should try to solve this.. Thanks, Karoly

Hey! The CR Encoder strip (that little plastic strip that runs from left to right of the printer, inside the carriage) is not installed or installed not properly. It needs to pass inside of an optic black sensor behind the carriage, check that :)

Hi! It's an issue I never heard about on this particular model, buuuut it's a widespread issue on the HP Photosmart 5520, and the purge system is similar in some ways, you could try following that video I've done but it won't be totally the same procedure.

Sostituito la testina e via. ho notato come da tuo video che la stampante era piena di inchiostro all'interno. Ho cercato di rimuoverne più che potevo. La vecchia testina era anche essa piena di inchiostro, penso derivante dalle alette di gomma nere che la puliscono. Penso che pulendola potrebbe funzionare nuovamente (hai consigli su come farlo?). Ad ogni modo penso convenga pulire l'eccesso di inchiostro una volta l'anno per evitare problemi alla testina. Grazie Ancora !!!

Ciao Luca! Quando vedi quell'errore è sempre un problema al livello elettronico della testina di stampa, e non si può risolvere in alcun modo se non sostituendola. Sicuramente una regolare manutenzione (anche ogni 2 anni) può aiutare. L'errore che a volte compare che può essere risolto con un reset (e una pulizia della stampante) è il problema al sistema d'inchiostro) :) Grazie :)

Hello Paolo, I’m not getting a print head error…but I just installed new color ink cartridges, and no color will print at all. What is the best way to clean the printheads? I used rubbing alcohol on a Qtip, but it did nothing. Is there a better cleaning process to get the printheads printing again? Note: I was out of color ink for awhile, before I was able to replace new color ink cartridges. But I’m using brand new HP cartridges to no avail. Thank you for you time & help.🙏

Hello Kim this is probably a problem of dried ink in the printhead. You could try to do the same I did with mine : after removing the printhead from the printer, wash, clean, wash, clean, clean the printhead with water and finally with isopropylic alcohol. This should work but this is a dirty task 🤨

Ciao! Direi di no perché se i flat sono collegati male la macchina ti da un messaggio di errore testina mancante o danneggiata... Considera comunque una cosa, non so se la testina che hai comprato su Amazon ti è stata venduta come nuova, usata o ricondizionata, ma testine nuove per queste stampanti non esistono (o meglio, esistono ma ce le ha SOLO HP, e non te le vende), le uniche testine che puoi trovare sono ricondizionate. solitamente funzionano ma può sempre succedere di trovarne di difettose.

Makes me never, ever, ever buy an HP printer. A friend gave me his that has a printhead problem and I thought I could fix it. (I tried cleaning the head in-place with a solvent and that did not work. It did wash out a lot of ink but it still says the printhead has a problem.)

It's an electrical problem, it cannot be fixed by cleaning it.

If it gives you an error it's not because it's not clean, but because it's defective. If it prints uneaven or with print quality issues it could be possible to revive it by cleaning it.
