HP ProDesk's can be had for a good value. I was updating a ProDesk 600 SFF i7-6700 so it could run a biking simulator for someone. Finding a Low Profile, that does not need 6pin power, and hopefully not draw too much power for the baby SFF power supply. The simulator is good with a GT1050 LP which I paid $125 on ebay. Finding a LP card that would fit before the USB plug was quite the challenge. I haven't got it yet, it's last scan Dec 23 was a post office 30 miles away, and it's 'stuck'. You video has me more scared that this adventure is going to hit more snags.

@rmgaminguk70792 жыл бұрын
Upgrading prebuilds is a nightmare, particularly when sellers never post a picture of the insides so you can see the connectors. I though Hp didn't get this bad till later intel generations as I've seen HP Prodesks with both 4th and 6th intel CPUs and they used standard 24-pin connectors. The only adapter required is a adapter for the slimline DVD which needed a smaller sata power connector. The 6th gen cpu prodesk I got was the HP 400 G3 MT, I can't remember the exact model name of the 4th gen cpu version but it had an i5-4590S in it and I was able to upgradethe power supply and put an gtx 960 in it. Different sized PSU, wow, not thats a new level of prebuilt bullshit. Great video by the way, enjoyable to watch and informative. Thanks

SFF is even harder. Bought EliteDesk 800 G4, put low-profile GTX 1650 inside (was lucky on GDDR6 one, had to buy low bracket from China…) and had to drill holes in cover so it cools down from 83°C immediately when jumping from game to task manager. Now waiting for 80cm long cables because the ones I got bundled with AX200 are too short and one had crippled that little MHF f*cker. AX200 and cables because normal card would be in front of GPU vent and way too close to PSU. My stupidity really shines with this purchase because buying used i5-8500, MB, some normal case and PSU would may be cheaper. But it is too late to abandon it at this stage because only thing which is left now is RAM. But hey, it can hit 100FPS in Warcraft 3 Reforged on highest settings! Which I limited to 75 to be the same as refresh rate of my monitor.

The propriety Hp holes on the heatsink are 4 inches by 3 inches. I could get ANBE AMD Plastic CPU Fan Stand Bracket which are 4.33 in by 3.15 in......I'm more interested in the 3.15 inch portion of the bracket which has a clip on mount. Since it's plastic, that would indicate it's easier to modify and use it with a Antec CPU Cooler that has snap on buckles, which is the reason for the 3.15 inch clip on mounts........this is all theory, and relatively inexpensive but effective. So, I'll buy some and reply.

Bought the parts, don't match. Returned part. Looks AMD like 3d parts have to printed to HP specs. Clip on cooler seems to be most feasible.

Yo can I put a 10 inch gpu in it? And can I just zip tie the psu?
@ZackEberly2 жыл бұрын
If you wanted to fit a 10 inch GP you would have to remove the extra hard drive cages so no and as for the psu you could zip tie it in that’ll work.

There are 2 different kinds. I got lucky and pick the right on up. -www.moddiy.com/categories/Cables/Branded-PC-and-Server-Cables/Dell-Cables/ Try matching the exact model number to the appropriate adapter.

Please do not use shoddy adapters to power your PC.
@ZackEberly3 жыл бұрын
There's actually nothing really shoddy about it. Match current and do your research and it looks like someone already did the hard work and now offers a product. Yes I understand your concern but I've been using it ever since and it works fine cuz its so simple.
