Just a quick update on Mac support - I did test with the Macbook Pro and could not get the "virtual display mode" to work with it. BUT - if you enable Picture on Picture and connect the Macbook Pro with two video cables it does work in picture on picture mode for two virtual displays. I found dual USB-C did not work, but one USB-C and one HDMI/Displayport does the trick. See it in action here: kzbin.infomHXM_DtCPLs

That makes sense. If you want to use this monitor with a single cable connection to a MacBook Pro, probably it would work with a Thunderbolt dock or hub (two cables from the Thunderbolt hub to the monitor, one from the dock to the MacBook Pro). Also one other note - the one external display limitation applies to M1 and M2-based MacBooks, regardless of whether they are "Pro". The MacBook Pro 13" (M1 or M2) won't work. You need M1 Pro/Max or M2 Pro/Max to support more than one external display. Note that Intel-based Macs have no such limitation, so even the 13" MacBook Air from 2019 will support multiple external displays.

This is most likely because MacOS does not support MST.

how in the world did you get the windows and the mac to screen share? there is no HP Device Bridge available on the HP site for Mac OS. I can get the windows and mac machines to display but cant move the mouse between them.

5:34 It's ridiculous Win11 still won't let you change the taskbar position to the side. What a massive waste of pixels on ultrawides like this. As someone who uses dual monitors I like the ability to have the single panel function as 2 physically seperately displays.

I have been rocking 2x Samsung 49's for a couple years now (stacked vertically). Any time these super wide screens are mentioned, it's also worth mentioning the software/driver functionality that allows for virtual splits on the screen, that are easily snappable like discreet screens would be. I use Display Fusion, but there are others nowadays. I think MS even has a powertoy that does it. I have different profiles for different business tasks, to lay out my screen in different arrangements. So incredibly useful. I'm glad to see someone targeting the business application of these. I hardly ever game on my PC (I could, I just don't). But the business application for this is a no brainer if you have the space. My productivity went skyward immediately upon setting these up.

I have been rocking a Samsung CHG9 49 inch ultra wide since 2020. Using an ultra wide, especially when working from home has been nice since you don't get that bezel right in the middle of your field of view when working and I can have things a bit more spread out.

If you commect one windows lap to the monitor via HDMI can you still use the 2 display mode ie 2 virtual screens next to each other? Not a masive deal if not as can arrange your windows. Just easier if you can. Good review.

This monitor is really cool. I wanna get it for the virtual side-by-side monitor features. I don't know of any other monitor that has that cursor-sharing built-in.

Lenovo Legion R45w-30 has basically exactly the same features (inlucing a LAN Splitter, which almost none of the competitors have, there are only 4 dqhd screens on the market, that have that) Sadly there is not a single device on the market, that is 49 inch, has USB Hub with LAN, refresh rate >= 144hz, otherwise i would already have bought it. The 44.5 inch version of DQHD has about 5 centimetres less screen height, then my 27inch gaming monitor, and ofc a lot of height less, then 32 inch 4k display.... so altough i want a DQHD screen, i am hesitating for days now to order one, as every single one on the market rn has some desin flaws

Great review and interesting monitor! I suspect that the mode where this monitor presents itself as two displays over one cable won't work on macOS at all, regardless of whether the device supports multiple external displays. This HP monitor is almost certainly using DisplayPort MST to implement that function, which macOS does not support on any hardware (Intel or ARM). MST works just fine on an Intel Mac running Windows, so this is an OS limitation. The only ways to get multiple displays through a single cable on macOS are: - Thunderbolt - USB4 - Display-over-USB-data (like DisplayLink)

Hi @LonSeidman, can you clarify in your comments or video that the Virtual Dual Display - Dual QHD only works for DisplayPort? For USB-C, It's QHD on 1, FHD on the other. Your video is confusing others.

Great video! Two questions: 1. Is that iPad a USBc iPad? I tried connecting my iPhone 13 with a Lightning to USBc cord and it did not work for me. 2. I have an MSI GP63 Leapord 8RE and I cannot seem to get the USBc port to work with this monitor. Any thoughts? Need to install a driver or will it not work with this laptop? Thank you!

Hey Lon. Any idea if this could do 2 displays with custom resolutions instead of just 2x 16:9, i.e. a narrow display with a portrait aspect ratio alongside another occupying all the remaining space?

For the virtual display features where it splits the screen into two separate displays for screen sharing, when you are not screensharing a specific screen can you have a document be in the middle of screen 1 and 2 (I.e., like when you have two separate monitors and you drag a file between monitors it will appear half and half on each separate monitor)? Reason why I am asking this question is I would be purchasing this monitor specifically for the virtual display feature while screensharing in zoom, but while I am not screensharing, I would want zoom video to be in the middle of the screen (with the dual display enabled) and quickly be able to share a specific screen if needed during a meeting. I understand I would be able to do this if I turned off the dual display feature to have my zoom video in the middle and tile screens, but curious if I would be able to keep the dual display mode always turned on for easier functionality. Thanks I’m advance for your help!

That's a weak implementation of PBP KVM. One input included, and requires the double press of a button?

This monitor would be good for video camera monitoring for security applications where you might need to put many camera feeds onto one screen. Like a retail operation, warehouse, or factory where a single security officer would be able to watch 24 or 48 or whatever cameras and then be able to click to enlarge any region of interest. Seems big for the average user though.

if I connect an xbox to this, will it show up in the middle of the pannel. Or will it only work on the left or right because the monitor is technically 2 monitors stuck together?

Would it be possible to hook up 2 of these HP monitors to a single PC (on top of each other) to simulate 4 monitors? If so, how would these be connected in order to assign keyboard and mouse?
@LonSeidman

If the PC supported quad displays that would work. You wouldn't have to worry about the keyboard/mouse as it would be powered by a single PC.

It's really too bad they didn't create **3** VESA mount positions on back for L/M/R ... that way you would use a single Vesa stand in middle, or use two Vesa stands in Left and Right positions, to make it much more stable and no wobble. The nits are low at 400, when used to 500 on Retina 5K  displays. The display resolution is quite low, would love to see this in 4K.
