Take a old pull start and cut and sand down to make a plastic shim and I did this quite some time a go use the easy start on board control box .wire it to a hump pack remove push button and use a remote on and off servo rely you also have to have the first Gen easy start motor. If it the sec Gen easy start motor it's not going to clear and your muffler won't mount to the engine will need to be modified even more to fit. You will also need a old pull start for the one way bearing insert to match Traxxas is a different style one way. A wireless remote start rechargeable setup with on board glow plug ingniton . And make the hpi rechargeable transmitter with charging port . It definitely nice and everything stay together. Besides needing to prime the fuel line your good to go. Some one ask about the 5.9 will not work not enough motor power to turn it over to start. Hope this helps savage nation

@ravinitro no problem it's worth making the spacer so it mount solid to the block grease also using a lipo to power every thing helps spin the motor faster to start it but watch out most servo can take it in less upgrade higher voltage. Also going directly with wiring and solider elements loose connections the on board control box and wire remote on off servo relay make it easier you don't need a micro servo you remove button and bridge the remote on of power it remotely much easier then the battery box push button . If it a 2 Gen easy start style there lot more clearance problems with muffler fitting. Not recommended but can be done. Also pre heating engine with heat also helps specially on 4.6 solid set up when done right. Have a great one till the next one

Want to see it actually start. once gets fuel it will increase in compression thus tearing the plastic case.

Adding the solid spacer shim a small amount of epoxy and 4 back Plat screws and a hire voltage lipo power out. Less torque on case. 4.6 is the max. But yes its more for a small block really what there ment to work with.

The backplate on the RS4 T15 engine is the large type but I have successfully fitted one of these to it by drilling new holes. The later G3.0 engine is a bolt on (27mm c2c)

Love it, been looking at ways to achieve this, I might have a go at a similar set up for my HPI Savage but try to install an on board Lipo battery and push switch. Is the 6mm starter shaft a traxxas product or a HPI item ?

The 6mm shaft is what you will find when you remove your backplate on the HPI engine - its ready for this mod. Lipo onboard would be cool, you could use the same lipo to power your receiver and servos making it serve two systems.
