HPI Maverick Strada EVO MT Part 9: 3s Top Speed

Some top speed runs of the Maverick MT using a 3s LiPo. I removed the front dog bones to try and stop the front tyres ballooning up and it did make the truck more stable in a straight line but made it flip over and uncontrollable under braking.
Did the job though as I managed to hit the top speed! The best run starts at 2m 20s.

Hi, great to see these upgrade videos. Just bought a brushed strada SC brand new. In 20 minutes time I've melted the motor. Whether it is normal or not (I guess not) I've ordered a razer ten 60amp 4000kv upgrade kit, it is yet to come. I couldn't find anything about how to program the new esc. Did you need to program yours at the upgrade or it was "rtr" too. Regarding the other comment, the diff housing can't hold oil, they are greased. Keep it up mate.

Don't worry about the melted motor, it's done you a favour 😁 , it's probably a slightly faulty ESC that was responsible. Your car will so much more fun on a brushless setup! I did a quick google on your new ESC and motor combo and it seems you can program it from the set button (which is usually a separate button on the on/off switch) or you can buy a program card. I did not need to program my GoolRc combo as the basic settings are pretty much what I want. Only thing I would increase on mine is a slightly faster reverse speed and I have got a program card coming in the post from China and should be here soon. My ESC does not have a set button so I have to use a program card. The comment on thicker diff oil, they are referring to the oil inside the actual diff and not the housing of which you are right that just needs grease 👍 Good luck with your brushless upgrade and thank you for your comments 👍

On the diff oil: I feel very small right now.. :-) Since my comment I did ask the seller if it comes with a program card, or not. He wrote that it is a sensorless setup, does't use a program card, so I'm just as confused right now as I possibly can be on this subject. Still digging the net for a straight forward guide on things I'm outdated on. Used to fly 450 helis a decade ago, so the basics are in place, but the electronics have evolved a lot and I'm trying to catch up.

This is what I read about the ESC you have purchased: Multiple protections: undervoltage shutdown, thermal protection and protection against signal loss. Simple programming via set button Separate programming port, easy connection of the LED program card (optional) and I found that information here: www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/razor-ten-brushless-motor-360799

This should be the program card you need: wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/313252/ You may be able to find one cheaper, try searching Robitronic program card 👍 Btw I have just been on the Robitronic main webite and the found your ESC with more detailed pictures. It definitely has a set button so you don't really need a program card. Wait until it arrives and then decide after that if you need a program card :)

Only ran it RWD for the speed run as when you accelerate with 4WD the front end goes light and the tyres seemed to balloon up and made the truck unstable. Braking was not fun and just made the truck want to handbrake turn all the time. It's a fun truck to play with though and looks awesome when you have it flying along flat out.

it might be that your diff oil is too thick in your front one

Cool, will look into that. I haven't as yet opened up the diffs or serviced the shocks yet so they are both over due on some maintenance.

Ah so there is a slight difference between the HSP Brontosaurus and the Maverick Strada MT. Mine are definitely dog bones. Have you done any workshop videos on your Brontosaurus that I can watch? 👍

Just watched your Top Pro unboxing video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/haK6hamDi7OVec0 and the front axles are not the only difference. The chassis looks exactly the same but it is actually mirrored. My motor mounts onto the left hand side and your motor mounts onto the right hand side! Obliviously the battery trays are opposite sides too etc........ Cool unboxing video btw! 👍
